The thing about pg tests is that they will work for most people as early as the first day of your missed period. There are 2 problems with this: 1) you need to know exactly when your period is due and 2) it's just
most people, not
all people.
If we guess that you are *normal* (hate that word!) then may be you are not actually 4 days late for AF. The day that AF is due depends on when you
ovulated. You might have a regular cycle, and that means that you ovulate on the same day each month. But it's possible that you ovulated a few days later than you normally would. If that's the case, then AF would appear later, and a positive pg test would show up later too.
Do you know when you ovulated? (you can tell if you chart your temperature each day or if you use OPKs (ovulation prediction kits).

If you are feeling really bad, worrying about whether or not you are pg is only going to make matters worse. I would book an appointment with your GP or pop into the family planning clinic for a blood test (blood tests can tell whether you are pg earlier than hpts).
