Okay, didn't bother to read through the rest of this thread cause it's just too irritating!!! Who the F&%K is this guy??? It's illegal in the States to be fired for having a surgery, so you might want to get in touch with the Human Resources department at work and report him. I wouldn't hesitate. Quit telling your boss the intimate details of your life. Now, he'll be waiting for you to be sick too much or need extra time off. In his eyes you've just graduated to "high maintenace" employee. Try to stear clear of that situation, especially if you like your job. And if you don't then, walk or let him fire you. It doesn't sound like a very positive work enviornment anyway.
I'm sure someone has already made this suggestion...
From another angle, could you request to use your holiday time, or PTO days(personal time off)? Of corse now, you'd have to wait awhile to get this under his radar.
I won't rant too much, cause I know you've gotta be peed off too. I don't want to upset you further.
