Have been doing a bit of research -
"Folic acid is considered safe during pregnancy, with an established recommended intake of 800 mcg daily."
From
http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1G1-137625820.html
Which is twice the directions on the tablets I've got which each contain 400 mcg.
Thanks for pointing out the upper limit thing on Wiki, I've had a look and I think I'm fine as I'm having less than 1mg and am taking B12 as well so any deficiency in it shouldn't be masked.
I think it's good to do what we can to prevent things going wrong but it's worth remembering that there are loads of unplanned pregnancies where everything is fine and the women haven't taken anything.
Think I'm getting better at the questioning my doctor thing - but I'm sometimes not that brave when I'm seeing them!
Don't think you're dumb at all magicvw - I'm terrible at knowing what's going on, it's just that my ears / eyes zoom in on anything TTC / pregnancy related at the moment
