Unhappy

Frustrated

Hiya,

I am a newbie to Baby and Bump, Me and mu hubby have been ttc for nearly 12 months. I have been married since June last year.

Husband has had a sperm test and this shows that he has a low sperm count. I had a mid cycle blood test 2 weeks ago and I am going to my doctor this week to find out the results of that.

Hubby has started taking vitimins and minerals as the doctor said that would help. i have been taking pregnacare since we started trying but nothing has happened yet.

Found out today that our best friend is 8 weeks gone and they have only been trying for 3 months and only as a 'see how it goes', i am soo happy for them but at the same time cant help feeling really upset and frustrated.
Got the usual questions going round in my head, Why hasnt it happened for us yet!?

Is there any help or advice others can give me?

Thanks

Melissa

Hi Melissa,

i can totally understand how you feel and so can everyone else on here, i bet, hunny.

Its terribly frustrating, but as i like to look at it, the longer you try the closer you are to your bfp, babe!!

Have you looked into a clearblue fertility monitor? You dont say how your cycles are, so i dont know if its any good to you, but a lot of girls on here also do charting and opk's. You can get opk's really cheap on ebay and that can help as well.

Have you joined MyMonthlyCycles.com or FertilityFriend?

As far as your hubby is concerned a lot of girls have reported really good results when trying vits, as your DH is on, and the other stuff, like boxers and not briefs.. eating habits etc.etc..

I wish you both all the best and your time will come!!

Sorry, i have no better advice...

, xxx

ps, just wanted to add im now also on Primrose, vit b complex, agnus castus and baby aspirin- some cocktail, eh. Ive just figured what the heck you know, lol...xxx

Hello Melissa

Welcome to B&B! Just wanted to reassure you that you are absolutely not alone and many of the women here will empathise with your feeling of frustration (myself included!) It can be especially difficult when people around you seem to get pregnant at the drop of a hat.

I find that working out new things to try out can really help me to feel that I have some control back over the whole situation - like Omi, I'm now starting on Evening Primrose Oil, baby Aspirin... and plenty of green tea!

With regards to boosting sperm count...the vitamins are a great idea, also looser underwear, avoiding hot baths/jacuzzis, cutting out smoking/alcohol and change in diet are all recommended. Certain foods have been found to help in production of healthy sperm (such as tomatoes) and there's loads of information online (though some of it definitely requires a pinch of salt! Excuse the pun)

Hope your doctor's appointment goes well this week.

Lxx

Hi Melissa!

You will find lots of support and friends on this forum I think!

Have you looked at fertility friend (http://www.fertilityfriend.com). I am still waiting for my for no2, but I have realised that we have probably been rustling those sheets at completely the wrong time for a lot of the time (took 10 months to conceive no1, 9 months so far to no.2, but I joined FF 2 weeks ago).

Good luck and hope you have a good time here at BnB!!! Most of us here seem to be pretty addicted!!!

Hi Melissa!

First of all and welcome to B&B! You'll find lots of ladies here who understand your situation and there's always someone around to listen when you need a chat/advice/moan.

I've started using the clearblue fertility monitor this month which has been great as I'm not sure of my cycles and opks don't seem to work for me particularly well. The fertility friend website is also very good for keeping an eye on your cycle and having somewhere to record it.

Good luck hon, sending you lots of

Welcome to B&B Melissa.
As the girls have already suggested, I think it would be a good idea to begin to chart your cycle, as you learn so much about your body and your cycle this way. You can determine if there are problems, but concluding if you O or not?

Good luck.

Thanks for your advise and the warm welcom e

I did join up to fertility friend but as soon as the VIP trial ended I didnt find this very helpful however may try the other one.

My cycles have been a bit weird lately, I was 28 days regular for the first 9 months of trying now just seem to be longer so perhaps we have been trayig at the wrong times. So I may invest in the Clearblue Fertility Monitor, I have seen them in the shop but because of the price not really looked twice.

Hubby is willing to try anything, we dont smoke and dont drink alot at all. So we were talking yesterday and think we are going to introduce more fruit and veg into our diet - so shopping trip today!

Sorry for the rant on yesterday - feeling slightly more positive about it all today and can actaully express my joy for my friends a bit more today without crying

xx

Im not surprised your frustrated, it does seem friends and other family members seem to fall pregnant quickly, and makes life seem very unfair

I would suggest starting to chart as well (if you dont already), this is only my 2nd month TTC having stopped taking BCP's in March, and although luckily I got my AF first month off the pill and definitely felt ovulation I had a 33 day cycle last month.

This month I ovulated 6 days earlier, and if I hadnt used OPK's (the cheapie ones) early I would have missed it totally, we still didnt BD enough so think my chances are very low this month.

I ordered a Basal thermometre from ebay (very cheap), and there are lots of free charts to print on-line, Im doing it more to see what my body is doing as I find the whole thing facinating!

The other product I have ordered is pre-seed, didnt get chance to use it this month unfortunately, but many people seem to have great success with it, and also going to start taking Evening Primrose oil, and maybe robitussin chesty cough medicine which is supposed to be a great help in producing more EWCM!

Lots of luck and hope you get your BFP very soon!!
