Journals Posting Etiquette

Journals, unlike regular threads are far more personal and while there are commonalities, it feels like we all treat them differently. E.g. there are journals where people relate and chat about anything to those where the OP simply doesn't respond to any comments and simply factually posts the next day or important milestone.

What bedazzles me is the correct etiquette. What is acceptable and what isn't. Imagine the normal, run of the mill TTC journal with both daily entries and responses from other ladies. Now occasionally dialog starts. Sometimes with the journal writer, sometimes with others. What is the correct thing to do? Carry on spamming that person's journal with a response to a question or comment addressed to you by someone else? Take it to your journal thus confusing things even more or simply ignore that comment and as such looking extremely rude to the writer?

Example:

Beats me!

*edited to add .. I think it depends on the journal writers style, some people have really chatty journal with they cycle buddies so they become communal chatting places, but I think the writers style dictates the amount of conversation that can go on within it?*

We are actually launching proper Blogs/Journals - If you bear with us you'll have a nice new blog that you can control how ever you want (IE. let people comment or change styles etc).

You people are too kind and put too much work into this! Good luck with moving!

Edited to ask.... will it be far more like a blog and less like a forum thread? Because if so, it will likely get far less traffic in terms of comments being posted, for example look at blog.com and so on. People hardly ever post comments and to most of us sad lonely interaction addicts that would be a loss.

I think Alexandra is saying she likes people leaving comments and chatting on her journal, but that in her experience people dont seem to do that so much on blogs-- am i right Alex??

Im intrigued with anything new, and i love the whole, keeping in contact aspect that journals give me..in context or out, lol!

AND- to answer question on etiquette..i agree wiht the former advice of going with the style the journal writer has...

...there are a few of us who are quite silly (you know who you are- me included ) and we enjoy that personal aspect, be it silly or serious- dont we ladies?? LOL!

Will be interesting to see the new set up, though

Looking forward to it

it will be a cross between the forum and a blog - journal entries will still get posted on the forum but you'd do it for a blog style interface, replies on the thread will automatically get posted under the comments on the blog. You'll also get a web address to use etc. for example http://blogs.babyandbump.com/Alexandra

The fine details are yet to planned but we'll let you all have play before making it official.
