OPK Help needed

Hey everyone,

On the advice of Yaya (thankx again) Im asking for help on OPK, Im really new to all this and its starting to hurt my brain.

I took a OPK test this morning on my first pee and it says Im having a surge, this isnt the first one, I took one around a week and a bit ago and it had a faint surge line, but today this one is strong.

Now Im usually due my AF on the 9th but last month it came on the 12th and did its usual took 3 days to pass on and on the 4th it was over so by the 16th it was away, and we started trying after that on the 17th as far as I remember, so with this second positive surge Im unsure where Im going this month.

I was going to start testing after the 9th when my AF usually arrives and see how things go after that.

Im just needing some advice on how all this OPK/Testing works, and who said baby making was easy haha

Thank you

Sorry you're having a bit of a confusing morning!

I don't think you're meant to use opks with fmu as it can give a false positive on opks. I think it's meant to be 2pm and 7pm instead or something. Sometimes though you can get a positive opk if you're actually pg so maybe hang on til af is due and do a test? Some ladies also ov twice in a month sometimes so who knows.

I wonder if you got some inaccurate readings though by using fmu.

Hang in there, all of our heads hurt from time to time doing this!

Hiya

I use the CB OPK so start POAS from CD11 and then usually get my smiley face CD14. AF comes without fail on CD28.

If you are using the sticks then if you have a 28 day cycle they recommend testing from CD11.

Good luck!

So af is due on the 9th? Not to get too excited, but OPK can detect a positive preg test, have you tried testing with a HPT?

If AF is due on the 9th I would say it's too early to be detected on a HPT. If the first OPK you did had a light line, I would say it was probably negative. OPK normally need to be as dark as or darker than the control line (but it's true that this isn't always the case - confusing I know!) I would go with today's being the surge and may be ovulated late this month. Just BD as much as you can anway and good luck!

Think I'd ignore them for this month and just BD lots just in case then next month you can test more regularly and then not use FMU like Lu said.

Hi everyone,

Thankx for your replys, yes I will leave it for this month now, if I work these things out, It will be a miracle do I usually work on a 9th to the 9th cycle, so pretty long, but with it being a little late last month Im still unsure about this month.

As for the OPK test maybe showing as a positive HPT I never thought of that, I last tested about a week ago (I know I dont really need to but I cant help it haha) and with thinking I would only show if I was past my due date then I just thought I should give up till I really know Im late.

The blue line on the CB OPK test was pretty strong after about 5mins and still sitting with two strong blue lines tonight (I checked in the bin) how sad is that?? I was checking I wasn't going mad haha

So maybe I should test just to see? We did try the day after my period finished last so thats 3 weeks now, maybe I should be able to test? but I could just try wait it out.

Thankx again everyone, its starting to make more sense
xxxxxx
