CBFM - think I messed up - help!

I bought my cbfm on ebay, came without an instruction booklet so obviously second hand. I assumed it was reset (assuming you can). I know on the first cycle it's meant to ask for 20 sticks to get to know your cycle but today would have been the 11th day and it didn't ask.

Now I'm panicking!! I got 6 highs and 2 peaks with my 10 sticks. do you think it was just happy that it captured my fertile period even though it was my first cycle? Or was it just plugging in the data from the previous person and telling my I was getting peaks when I wasn't?

Should I reset it now and start from scratch next month?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm gutted I may have messed the whole thing up this month, bded on the wrong days and lost my chances of my

im no expert but as far as i know the cbfm should still only give you a peak reading if it dected the lh and estrogen in your body.

Having said that, id reset it next month anyway, just to be safe. Here's the cbfm site if it helps any http://www.clearblue.info/uk/FAQSFAM.cfm

and how to reset it:

Here are the reset instructions for the monitor:
Please read all instructions over before attempting to re-set the monitor!
1. With the monitor OFF, place a clean unused test stick with the cap on (remove plastic cap from one end and snap it onto the other end of stick) in the test stick slot of the monitor.
2. *Make sure it snaps in.*
3. Press and hold the “m” button. Continue pressing the “m” button while turning the monitor ON.
**(NOTE: Do not take finger off “m” button until these directions say to do so.)
4. It will show you the “remove the test stick” sign. (a flashing test stick with an arrow pointing right) Continue pressing “m”.
5. Keep pressing the “m” button and in about 20 seconds, you will see a screen full of symbols. The screen will look as if it is going crazy and will be full of pics.
6. Remove the test stick first and then QUICKLY release your finger from the “m” button. All of the memory should be wiped out.
7. Your screen should display a flashing “m” and one or two dashes. If it does not, it will probably show a “1″ and a non-flashing “m”. If it does, then you need to repeat the process so it shows the flashing “m” and dashes.
8. Start using the monitor on CD 1 as per the instruction booklet.

All the best bunny and dont worry..ive had some probs too (today!!!) with my cbfm (well, its more of a stick problem ) but i dearly love it still...happy 2ww!!

Thank you! I know it's my own fault if it's messed up this cycle, nothing to do with the gadget itself.

I really hope you're right about it reading my peak anyway, I don't want this cycle to have gone to waste

Good luck to you too! I just hope I got my bding in at the right times now! I was convinced I'd get my BFP this month because of my CBFM - naive I know! At least now I shouldn't be as gutted if it doesn't happen because I did screw up a bit anyway...

Funny thing is, I got what looked like the start screen when I turned it on for the first time so wonder if it just didn't bother with the 20 tests for the first cycle if it thought it caught all the important data. What does the screen look like when you're going from one cycle to the other? Does it just have the cycle day number and your reading and then switch to number one when you reset using the m button?

Hun according to my CBFM....you should only need 10 sticks per cycle...20 if your cycles are extra long. So maybe you are fine!!

Yep...it will only ask for more if it doesn't get a clear reading:

"All you need to do are simple urine tests each cycle when requested by the Monitor. You will always be asked to use one set of 10 sticks each cycle. If your cycles are long or irregular, then Clearblue Fertility monitor may ask you to use a second set of 10 sticks t help you identify your most fertile days."

Hope that makes it a bit clearer...
