Exercise whilst TTC

So … I’ve decided to join a gym as part of my TTC activities. I’m a little overweight and very unfit so I thought it would be a good plan…

I’ve just had my first induction session – I’m completely knackered! My thighs and tummy have muscles that I never knew existed! And that’s just a gentle induction, how am I going to survive a proper session?

If going to the gym is going to be this exhausting how am I going to find the energy for any other (more essential? ) TTC activities?

Someone please tell me that exercise and getting fit is worth it and that I should keep at it. My motivation is currently taking a nosedive. I’ve also heard that the muscle pain is worse the next day – please tell me that’s not true…

I feel very old and very tired ...

Hehe, keep at it... it is hard at first, but once your body gets into a routine it gets easier... once you have been a few times you will feel so much better.

It does hurt the day after, but you have to keep at it and it will soon stop hurting.

Good luck!!!

Yeah I agree with Chellebelle, youll feel so much better for it, yeah the pain does get worse the next day and the day after that sometimes but only cos its your first time doing it ages. Once you keep going, it wont hurt I promise. Mind you if you saw me youd think how the hell does she know??!! Im not the most athletic perosn in the world, in fact im far from it. I have a real love hate relationship with exercise and know i need to do it but the same as you cannot motivate myself. Youve done the worst bit now and keep it up , you'll get such a high from being fit and healthy that itll be worth it, I promise! Maybe can you send some of your motivation my way too please!!!!!

Thank you girls. I've just had a nice hot bath which is helping, but I am dreading tomorrow morning! The Gym convinced me to sign up for a 3 month minimum so I keep telling myself I've got to go for at least that long to make it worth the cost! Those sales people sure know how to get you don't they! I'm hoping to persuade some friends to join and then perhaps the company will help the motivation.

If I'm being honest, I should really have also said - the chocolate I'm scoffing is helping too!

You should start out with low key routines if you can. I know when I started exercising, throwing myself into the gym and programs I just couldn't take it. I started beginners yoga and pilates, and I realized I could take it much easier but I was still feeling great and my body was getting a wonderful workout. It may be easier to make the transition that way. Good luck!!!

I used to be super active, and shall we say "took a little break"... of 2 years... and I thought that when I finally got myself excercising again it'd be a piece of cake. Well it friggin hurt the first couple of sessions and I thought about chucking it in, but glad I kept on. In a months time when you see not only the physical change but also how you feel more alive it'll be worth it. I can't believe I find myself craving to go to the gym PLUS I swear that I'm hornier after a workout Hee hee!
Good luck, and don't worry about the chocolate, it's good for the soul

Keep at it, it does get a little easier. I'm definitely not a gym lover, I go because it's the sensible thing to do but once you get into a routine it's fine. having said that, I haven't been in a couple of weeks because we've been so busy getting ready for moving etc so i can't talk!
