Hmmm...peas bad for conception?!

Hello Everyone,

Hope you're all having a good day. Came across some info that I hadn't heard before and just thought I'd share... apparently peas are not a good food for couples trying to conceive - there's something in them (which in some parts of Asia is abstracted to produce contraceptives!) that can seriously disrupt fertility. Supposedly this was discovered because researchers noticed a relatively low population growth in Tibet, where peas are a staple part of diet...and the rest is history.

So if any of you are loving your peas, you might want to try and go without for a while, just incase.

Yeah, they don't teach us this stuff at school do they! And yet for some reason I apparently needed to know Pythagoras' theories. They've got it all wrong!

Mmmmm now I want some peas. I've heard they're meant to be bad when TTC but I doubt it's true. I was eatig them frozen (pea lollypops) before I got pregnant.

Surely this can't be true *runs to the freezer to check where the petit pois are from*

Well this is a very strange thing! Just did a quick google, and yes, there seems to be a lot on the net about this! Here's one article:

hmm, dont take this the wrong way- i know its well meant but ... i dont believe this for a second. Does anyone?? Come on, how does anyone get prego these days if even everyday normal stuff is supposed to be bad for us?? Peas??? Naw... everything in moderation is not a bad thing whatever it is, especially greens

I would say though, if anyone worries about this stuff..soyabeans are like superfood, have them instead (edamame they're called in Japan, and they have the lowest breast and ovarian cancer rate in the world)

Please dont take this the wrong way, i just dont think its healthy going crazy when ttc..thats all

Completely agree - everything in moderation!! Certainly wasn't trying to incite a mass abandonment of peas.
