Question

Well I'm still confused post Mirena

It has now been 30 days since I had my Mirena coil removed, and I'm not sure what I should be doing! My clycle was always around 28 days, so does that make me AF 2 days late? I tested with a Superdrug's own test on Sunday and there was a very faint, very thin line in the 2nd window, but was this an evap line? I tested with a Clear Blue Digital yesterday with FMU and it was I tried again today but messed it up somehow and it said void test, does your fertility come straight back or can it take a while? How long beofre I test again or shall I save my pennies? All sugggestions welcome!

I'm Currently Feeling:

Hi Becky,

i cant tell you about the coil as i know very little, nothing in fact, and I can only suppose it works like other invasive contaception (as oppsosed to condoms, i mean). Every body works different, so i dont think its a right or wrong about it, unless its been like 8 weeks since af...

however, thats not your question, lol!!

Tbh, evap lines is not something that i have ever entertained (before i came on here that it is, i simply read the test- and sure enuf i was pg- but weird things do happen-and many still come up pg) mainly due to the fact that all, ALL pg tests say, if you get a second line then the test has picked up hcg, pregnancy hormone in your body- which is not something you have lying about unless your pg, lol!!

If you didnt read the test in the recommended time then it could be an evap i guess..OR the test was faulty (??) or its too sensitive to read the levels of hcg...

My best advice to you would be to test again in a few days and hopefully you'll get the bfp!!!

Good luck, and let us know how you get on, xxxxx

I had the mirena coil removed in january 2007 after having it in for 2 years. It took two months to get a proper period. Four months after getting it removed i had a M/C and bled for about 5 weeks. Since then, i've not really had regular periods. I wouldn't trust the positive result as it's not been very long since having it removed and you could still have the hormone in your body. They say it can take upto a year to properly get rid of the hormone from your body, but i've read that some people can get pregnant right away. Before TTC i'd probablys wait until you have atleast had 1 or 2 proper periods so you know your body is starting to get back to normal.

I has the mirena removed before we started ttc Charlie, and the doctor said that I should go back to a normal cycle straight away. She even said that if we had BD within the last 4 days, then technically I could actually get pg within a few hours of having the coil removed from the sperm that was already there if I was about to O then!!!

If I were you, I would take another test tomorrow with FMU. Good luck hun.

I am having similar probs since coming off the Depo Provera jab, and from what i have heard it contains the same hormones as the mirena coil..since coming off the depo in dec i have had 2 faint pos tests but am not pregnant. I have had 2 blood tests confirming this and loads of other HPT's coming back Neg. From what i have read this could be down to the depo Good luck with TTC i am in the same boat and came totally sympathise.

Mine was removed mid-July and we got our BFP on New Years day, so 5 months of proper ttc. My cycle went to a 28/29 day cycle immediately.
