Advice on exercising

Hi I was wondering if anyone had any advice to offer regarding exercising when ttc. I normally go to a weekly step aerobics class and it is a hard workout. I didn't go the past three weeks when I thought I was ovulating and in my 2ww as I was thinking it might be to much on my body and prevent me from conceiving.

Anyway AF arrived today!! so I think I will go to the step class this week. I really enjoy the class and would like to go every week but not too sure if it's best for me at the moment. Do you think it would be ok to keep doing step aerobics right throughout the month? Any advice welcomed.

Thanks

I personally wouldn't stop going, especially while TTC.

I've put off running for the past 6 months as i thought it might affect me conceiving. Went and saw the nurse and she thought i was a nutter!! She said as and when i found out i was PG - then i could re-evaluate but not to worry whilst TTC as being active was more beneficial to assisting conception.

if you are worried about the high impact stuff why not do low impact?? I've just signed up for Pilates!!

My friend Emma didn't know she was PG and had a drunken weekend on a trampoline - she now has a gorgeous baby girl so it definitely doesn't seem to matter too much!!

Good luck!

I do aerobics type classes about 3 times a week (not lately though, I've been lazy!!). I certainly wouldn't stop just because of ttc, they say the healthier you are the better. I personally can't see any real risk in this at all but you have to do what you're comfortable with. If you're at all worried, maybe talk to your doctor for reassurance.

To be honest, I think we worry about too much and overthink ttc and I really don't think exercise is a problem

I cycle, ride and/or run at least 4 days a week, I'm a grumpy whotsit if I don't! I keep wondering if I should cut down but as far as I've read exercise is a good thing!

What with all the TTC comfort eating if I didn't I'd become a blob in no time!

i go to 4 classes a week if im being good- 2 spinning, 1 step and 1 salsaise or normal aerobics depending on what nights i can get to. Only the salsa is low impact. I've not concived yet but this has nothing to do with the exercise. I definately agree with the fitter you are the better you are. Im gonna re-evaluate when i do become pg

My Gyno told me exercise was fine, but while in the "two week wait" he said it is best to avoid abdominal exercise, like sit ups, pilates and things that strain those muscles, because that may hinder the implantation process.

Thanks for all ur advice. I think I'll keep going to the classes it's hard enough to keep fit and when you find some form of exercise you enjoy it's a bonus. I don't want to fall into the trap of putting my life on hold while ttc and I should just go on with things I enjoy as normal in the meantime. In my 2ww I'll just do what I am comfortable with at the classes, the teacher is really great encourages everyone to exercise to their own level.
