cd18, expecting ovulation, got another period! Thoughts please!

Hi,
We're in our 3rd month TTC but my periods are still irregular after coming off Depo Provera over a year ago. Periods returned in Nov 09 and cycles have been anywhere from 23 days to 35 days. Has made it tricky! So this month I have gone the whole hog and have been BD'ing every other day since my period finished, temping and using OPK's. I'm now on CD 19 and judging by last month, was expecting to ovulate pretty soon. Haven't had a positive on the OPK's, but had a couple of twinges on my left hand side near ovary and started light spotting yesterday. Then temp rise this morning so thought may have ovulated. Then got period at lunchtime! How is that right when my temp spiked today? When i got my period last, my temp dropped like I've heard it should.

Sorry for the essay. I know we've only been trying for 3 months, and it's not that I'm upset that I'm not pregnant yet, it's more that I don't know what the heck my body is doing, and it's so frustrating. I used to be so regular before the depo, and knew by how I felt that I was ovulating. It's like starting from scratch again, and I've just turned 34 so feel the pressure a bit.

Really need some friendly words! (Lol probably just teary and hormonal!)

Hi Pickle,
I am in a similar situation. Came off the pill in January and had a really long period, then thought I was back on track this month but similarly to you on CD17 my period came.

It is just so frustrating not knowing what my body is doing, I can completely sympathise! I am just hoping that my hormones will settle down soon so I know where I am with my cycle a bit more. I hope you get some answers that might help from some of the other girls on here. xx

It can take up to 18 mths for cycles to return to normal after depo. Best of luck. X

that is a weird cycle you had! IT isn't unheard of to have an 18 day cycle, although it is shorter than the low end of normal (the low end of normal being 21 days). Maybe see what happens this next cycle and if you still are way too short or way too long, then you could ask the doc about it and whether she thinks you could try clomid. clomid is supposed to regulate your cycle so that you OV around cd14 or 15 like all the lucky ladies out there with regular 28 day cycles. Some women try natural remedies first to try to normalize their cycle though. You have only been TTC 3 cycles now so maybe it will normalize itself the next couple? I hope so!

Thanks ladies. I have been SO patient since Jan 09 and it took my periods 10 months to return after the Depo. And it's been another 4 months since periods returned and so I feel so close but so far away from being able to get pregnant. It's been years actually that I've been waiting to start TTC as I have type 1 diabetes, and have finally got the go ahead from the hospital after working really hard to get my blood sugars more stable. So the impatience has caught up with me! Even putting all this down in type has helped - needed to get it out to people who know what it's like!
Thanks again and will be on here more I think. Babydust to all of you too xx

Oh and what does anyone think about the temp spike this morning even though my period arrived?

hi pickle im the same as you i was on the depo injection for 3yrs after my son was born in june 06, i came off the depo in may 09 my af came straight back and has been roughly evey 25-28days with the last one on 2nd march which was only a 24day cycle, and mine have only lasted about 3-4days, when i was on depobefore my son it only took 6months after coming off, and then with my daughter whos 11 in may it was the same before her, im now going to have a blood test done tomorrow to see if ive ovulated yet, they are testing me early due to a range of problems - back in oct 08 i had emergency surgery to find out why i had bad stomach pains which turned out to be cysts in my fallion tubes and also when i was younger i had pelvic imflammitory, and im also type 1 diabetic and have managed to get my sugar levels under control, and they are happy with the levels ive managed to get them down to since the summer 09

atm im now on either 6dpo or by ff im 4dpo, so fxd that ive managed to catch the egg this time, but im not allowed to test until next wkend
