Gynecologist appointment

Can i get an appointment without going through my GP, as i asked for an appointment to be made but my GP has refused, he says its pointless to see a gynecologist as i am overweight x

Didn't want to read and run...kinda outraged that he told you you were overweight....can you see another GP at your practice?

I know im overweight. Im trying to get an appointment but its taking me ages, as u have to ring on the morning by 8am to see if theres appointments if not gotta ring again the next day and so on.

Hiya hun, I'm pretty sure you need to be referred by your GP (I only know this cus I had to go!)

But I'm not 100%, so don't hold me to to it lol x

i know im not gonna get anywhere! i need to see someone because iv had no ovulation since january and in 45 days i've had 3 periods! they just wont listen to me and keep telling me its because im So overweight! a size 16-18!

It's stupid that you have to have referrals for everything over here! In America they have gynae's etc independantly from their doctors and can go have regular check ups.

I would demand an appointment and see another doctor- what a tool!!

thats ridiculous theres ppl a lot bigger that fall preg, plus they should rule out complications first surely? have you had bloods, sperm test well not you lol!

lol!! yeah we had SA done and i have had my cd21 tests done etc so ar unexplained infertility so i cant have treatment until im 23 and 12 stone. But now i have stopped ovulating after starting to lose weight and i have had 3 periods in 45 days and they told me i cant see a gyne because im overweight its probably because im overweight that im having trouble with my cycles.x

You could always go private ? a consultation would probably cost about £100. I know my mum went to see someone privatley for a bowel problem (she didn't want to wait months incase it was serious) and that was about £100 but not entirely sure cost would be the same. Maybe you could enquire at your local BUPA ??? xxx

we were told it would cost £400, but we havent got that atm but we should be able to get it on NHS as we have been told we could then refused due to weight its silly that just because im overweight we dont qualify to see a gyne
