take a look at this
http://www.womentowomen.com/menopaus...cle_060809.gif

the top chart....the pink....that is Lutenizing Hormone, which is what OPKs detect.
Notice how it peaks and starts to go down before O actually occurs.

Hi, I used the cheap ones first and got results like yours, different colored lines everyday. Got fed up trying to figure and got a Clearblue Digital OPK that showed a SMILEY when I should BD-ing. Made life easier.
Usually, AFTER Ovulation, your OPKs go fainter and fainter. I think you ovulated between noon and 7 pm yesterday then, based on what you have told me.

Its only usually possible to conceive if you have intercourse BEFORE ovulation and not on the day or after. Sperm needs about 30mins to get up the tubes and it HAS to be there BEFORE an egg is released for successful conception.
My doctor told me last month before I started TTC whether I wanted to go with the BBT charting or OPKs. The BBT charting he says, are slightly unreliable and by the time I get my temp rise, I had ALREADY Ovulated and there is no chance I would conceive anymore that cycle because I should start BD-ing BEFORE the temp rise.
So I chose the Clearblue OPK because it tells me exactly when to start BDing and I can't miss ovulation. He told me most of his patients (esp those over 35) have successfully conceived using that particular Clearblue OPK.
I have only started TTC a few weeks ago after taking my last pill, using only OPK. I am not hoping for too much, but its possible and so far so good - i had my ovulation pains the day after I got my Smiley, I am currently having lots of creamy white CM although its already 4 DPO, feeling fatigue, boobs are hurting, so I hope it works out this month already!
Good luck!

Reading how all of you are too finding the cheapie opk tricky I'm so glad I'm not the only one! So far it seems I haven't Ov'd, only had faint lines, no temp shift and I'm on day 21 of 30day cycle. I'm now slightly worried I'm not ovulating, but I'm going to do the same next month and if I don't seem to O next month I think I'll look into it further, but hoping to not have to

Hi Mummy Blues.

Your doctor seems full of information. My doctor just took my implant out and left me to it no advise or nothing. I didnt realise you had to start Bding before ov. Is that when ur chances are higher. I used first responsive ov tests last month got what i thought was a pos but unfortuanty got af yesterday.

Might try the clear blue one this month....

Thanks for the good advice and best of luck. Let us know how u get on.

x

I've been using the IC's as well. Using them for the first time this month and think I maybe O.

Did one this morning and got a faint line. Did another one 4 hours later and it was darker. Waited 5 hours to do another one and think I may have got an evap (if that is possible on an OPK?)

Going to wait until 10.30 tonight to do another one as got EWCM this morning and have started to get O pains in the past couple of hours.

Feel I have become an expert at peeing into a cup!!! probably a better aim then my DH and DS!!!

Good luck to everyone this month and lots of

Hi tidyroom,
yes, I love my gyno, he is lovely person very very attentive, just hope he doesn't go into retirement anytime soon! Went to him after stopping my last BCP earlier this month cause I was pretty worried about my chances...
Sperm needs about 30mins - 1 hour to make it up to tubes, some end up at the wrong tube. Sperm has to present AND WAITING before an egg is released, else conception chances are very very very low because an egg lives less than 0.7 days after it has been released or less than 15 hours. He told me its best to start BD-ing 4-5 days BEFORE ovulation, on a daily basis leading up to ovulation day for best chances at 43% (wonder how he got that percentage???)

At the moment - I can't taste anything at all, my mouth is all metallic, I smell popcorn from the cinema 5 blocks away for some reason and having major constipation (sorry TMI!!), so its a good sign that my estrogen and progesterone levels are shooting sky high, which is good for baby! Keeping my fingers crossed, 4 days till testing!

Sorry the witch showed up on you! DON'T give up, and lots of baby dust everyone! Good luck!!!!!
