My experience of TTC

Hi I'm butterflies,

I've been TTC with my husband for a little over 7 months,
Our story so far....We've not been charting yet, we've just been seeing what happens, which is what my doctor advised and he really wasn't forthcoming with any useful advice or help.
I now have alot of friends who are expecting or by now new parents. This is quite tough on us, we told a few people we we're TTc at the start and now its spread like wild fire and everyone keeps asking, thus making it all MUCH harder.

I came off the pill a little more than a year ago, we're both fairly healthy. Although (and please don't judge) we both smoke a little, admittedly me more than Hubby, but i'm struggling with this, as every month that passes and aunt flo pays a visit i get down and smoking helps, even though i know its bad for me. I do want to quit and would never smoke through pregnancy, but right now its tough for me in that respect.

We've now decided to start charting, so as to make things clearer for ourselves, if anyone has any advice on this it would be much appreciated.
My cycles can be a little erratic, although just recently they settled well, and only last month was i wickedly over-due.....you can imagine what that made me think until got my .

So i look forward to getting to know you all, and hearing your stories so far

Hiya Butterflies

Sorry to hear you've had a rough time with ttc. I think the charting will really help u though to feel more in control as well as give u invaluable info into what's going on with yr body. I would advise joining fertility friend online -- http://fertilityfriend.com -- you join for free and you can take part in a series of online lessons which teach u the basics of charting. It's a good place to start -- just holler if u need any specific help/advice.

How about starting yr own ttc journal? I just started one yesterday and am already loving it -- it's a nice way for us all to keep in touch with each other & where things are at.

Good luck!
Sending u some

yaya xxx

Welcome to the board Butterflies - everyone is wonderful on here and will keep you going!!

Me and my OH are going into cycle #10 but unlike you we have become a little bit obsessed with 'doing it' at the right time! We should be more relaxed like you are doing. My OH is also trying to quit the fags - its not easy though. I came off bcp last March after around 13 years but we started trying in July. My cycles regulated in August. I also get strong ovulation pain and I use the predictor kits - maybe you should give them a go??

Good luck.
xxx

Hi there and welcome, I would also recommend Fertility Friend, its free (well - I'm just using the trial version so it is!) and it's an easy way to keep track of things

Good luck and lots of for you

^ have given wonderful advice. I am sorry ttc has been hard for you Many ladies on here can and will relate to that~ included myself X 1,000,000!!! I find it is easier for ttc to be a private matter. I know when I had to go to the gyn for my appointments, everyone kept thinking that I was preg and always bothered me about it (still do!!!). It isn't that they are trying to get you down, but the constant reminder that your not preg and everyone else seems to be gets to you mentally.

Hope you have good luck charting! Temping is good. I just started about 3 cycles ago and enjoy it. Checking your cm (cervical mucus) helps too

Wow, what a warm, welcome, thanks you guys!!!
It truly means alot to talk to people in the same boat, however i don't wish TTC issues on anyone, if that makes sense?

One thing you may be able to answer for me is, can you start charting at any time? or does it have to be after aunt flo or something? I can't seem to find advice on this anywhere.
My doctor wasn't at all helpful, and was really reluctant to guide me in the direction of ovulation times etc, i had to find this all out on the net.
However i plan on charting for a few months and seeing how we go, if no joy by that point i think we will visit again and see what happens.

One thing i did get yesterday was pains that felt alot like "ovulatiion" pains, which i used to get, but since coming off the pill i can't say i've really felt it. So ocf, we're trying like mad!!!!!!

How do i start a journal? i think this would help me? to you all

you're right about it not being easy to quit the fags, anybody who has/does smoke will agree they become your comfort, which is pathetic i know, and i feel like i'm stuck between the devil and the deep!!!!

hi butterflies

You can start charting on any day of yr cycle - however most people say it makes the most sense to wait for the first day of AF bleeding and count that as cd 1.

If you want to start a journal just go to the section marked as 'TTC journals' and start a new thread! Good luck & looking forward to reading about yr journey.

Hi hun, Welcome to Baby&Bump!
TTC is a frustrating, and sometimes long process, but like i always say,
every day that passes, is a day closer to your BFP!

Hang on in there sweetie! x

I shall start myself a journal up, it will help me to write it all down and also maybe some of you will pick up things i haven't.
TTC is not new to me, although the more in-depth side of it is, so you guys could and probably will be a tremendous help.

I'll perhaps wait until aunt flo before charting then, maybe it will make it easier, although, this month like any, i hope she doesn't appear!!!!!
