So confused....

Hi All,

I post on here a while ago under the title 'pregnancy intuition' as I was so sure I was pregnant and was waiting to take a HPT.

Well, I was pregnant, my intuition was right...that's when it all went wrong.

Had 2 HPT positive. Made appointment to see dr. Had to wait a week for an appointment. Went to dr, confirmed with urine test. Wanted to re-test in 2 weeks as it was early stages. After one week, I felt different and knew something wasn't right. Went back to Dr who did another urine test...negative. Was told it was a missed miscarriage as I had no bleeding, which I understood and tried to accept. 3 weeks later had a complete miscarriage which was confirmed by the dr who was a little shocked as we both thought my body must have just re-absorbed the pregnancy. Was told that after the inital miscarriage I would then go straight into my period. At 21 days of that cycle I was told to start a course of progesterone injections..it was all planned.

During miscarriage had 2 days of bleeding and brown discharge when everything was coming out. Not nice but I saw the sac etc as did the dr but then no period, I usually bleed for 6 days. Curiousity got the better of me 5 days after this as I still felt pregnant and just thought my body was playing tricks on me. Did a hpt, as expected negative. A week after this started with stronger symptoms, thought body playing tricks again. Did another test...such a strong positive. Highly confused went back to doctor. She agreed it was a positive hpt and did a urine and blood test to confirm. Went back to dr today to get results.....

positive urine test but negative blood test...???? And so was told I wasn't pregnant.

I am so confused as again I have all the symptoms. Nipples twice the size and erect, backache, weird stretching feelings in pelvic area, dizziness, constipated, nausea...need I go on.

I was then told that I was to wait and see what happened as they suspect I might have been pregnant with twins, miscarried one but the other remains inside but not viable. I haven't been offered a scan or anything and have been told to wait foe nature to take it's course. Still no period since the start of Feb.

So confused can anyone advice...please?

Thanks

The scan advice sounds good - it doesn't sound like the drs have been all that helpful with what to do next. I don't think I'd be able to 'wait & see'.
Hope everything gets sorted out soon for you x

Thanks so much for your replies. My husband and I are so confused and lost at the moment.

I asked why I couldn't have a scan and was told there was no point....then in the next breath was told by the nurse that scans can be harmfull to your baby....eh? They tell me I'm not then they say at this stage it's too early for the scan to show anything....doesn't make sense.

I was then told that I needed to have had 4 miscarriages before they would do or investigate anything.

Also, when I had the miscarriage the dr examined me and was quite confused as she couldn't find my cervix for ages as it was so far back.....if it was a period then surely it would have been forward?

What I don't understand though is how you can get a postive urine test and yet on the same day a negative blood test?

Many thanks

I just thought i'd add that i read on a website (don't remember the name cuz i found it by googling) that in some cases it may take a while before pregnancy symptoms go away.It also said that u can even get a positive hpt even after a miscarriage.I assume your doctor never said anything about this so i don't know if this relates to you.I do hope that you get everything figuured out really soon.I'm sorry to hear about what you are going thru. Wishing you all the best.

I had a miscarriage on 11th april and it is only today 25th april that my blood levels have went down to 12 and the epac have discharged me i am assuming with hcg that it metabolises into the urine in pregnancy after it appears in your blood then i would assume it would be in reverse when the levels go back down and disappear from your urine last just a theory and so sorry to hear of your loss x
