I have irregular period and was diagnosed in Feb 09 with PCOS by Dr Tam. I had an internal scan that showed multiple cysts on both ovaries. I had blood taken and my hormones were fine and my Thyroids checked both fine.

I started TTC in June 09. I changed doctors in November 09 as I moved house and went to see my new doctor in Jan 2010. Dr Bhatt didnt think I had PCOS so I had 21 day bloods done. It showed I was ovulating and he told me he didnt think I had PCOS. He was funny with me when I told him I was TTC because of my age saying "you dont want to think about that your only young" I'm 19 and he pretty much laughed. He then realised I was VERY serious about it and very worried that I hadnt conceived.

He told me he would refer me to a fertility specialist and they would get in tocuh. I got a voicemail on March the 9th asking to give the doctors a call. I just did and the woman said she couldnt see why someone left me a message, so I asked her if she knew anything about the fertility specialist and she said "to be honest I dont think anythings been done about it, I dont think Dr Bhatt has reffered you"!!!!!!!

Is she being serious? I knew the w***** wouldnt bother. I knew he wouldnt take me serious because of my age!!!!!!!!!! I am so pissed off right now!

She said ring monday and speak to a doctor!!!!!!!

Isit just me or doesnt anyone else think this is a complete piss take? Like me asking for help is some sort of joke?

It is a bit of an arse being messed around by the doctors, however for all you know the receptionist may have got her wires crossed. You may have been referred, she just couldnt find the notes. Maybe call back as soon as you get the message next time to give them less time to lose the message!

tbh, 19 is young, I'm not saying it's TOO young to ttc, as it depends on the individual, it's just that people are going to react that way when you tell them you are ttc. They think back to what they were doing at your age, and your Doc was probably at uni, living away from home for the first time and having a riot. Next time someone expresses that "it's not something you should be thinking about now" calmly tell them that yes, you are young in years, however, you are an adult and you have thought about this carefully and it's something you have wanted for a long time. You can't change how people think unfortunately, but if you show that it's not just a fad, they may realise that you personally aren't too young.

i understand completely. im 20 and been TTC since may of 09 and i am SICK AND TIRED of being told to "stop trying, youre so young and it will happen eventually" i know im young but i am ready for a child.
