You should be having at least 1.5lts per day. How about mixing it with squash, or having herbal teas (mint tea is easy to drink). Or even decaf tea will count towards your intake.

About 8 glasses a day! Keep a bottle with you wherever you go, and keep sipping. You will definitely have to visit the loo a lot more.
Its best limit sodas as much as possible - diet or otherwise. Diet coke contains artificial sweeteners that are not the best. And a whole bunch of other additivies which we really don't know too much about.
I am not saying soda is bad, just saying water is better.

Pure fruit juice is acidic and not great for maintaining a good pH balance. Carbonated drinks are also acidic, and in addition reduce your bloods ability to carry oxygen. They are okay in moderation, but that's not enough for hydration.

If you can't stomach water straight off, then diluting it with fruit juice is a good start, so well done Try starting off by getting a 2 ltr bottle of water, and putting 2 cups (about 500 mls) of juice in and topping up with water. After a day or two, try cutting down to 1 cup, and then a half. After that point you'll feel a lot more comfortable.

If your water is very chlorinated, it's worth putting it into a blender and running it for 30 seconds. This whips a lot of air into it which helps the chlorine break down. After this is smells a lot less false. If you leave it 15 mins it's even better.
