Nixilox - you have a great bd schedule sorted out - I could never be that organized!!

Twinkle - I am the same as you - I had a 28 day cycle in Jan/Feb then in Feb/March it was 32 days!! So here I am on cd10 and have no idea when I am going to ov or how long my cycle will be or even when af will be due!! This is my first month charting but that will only tell me aftet the fact. I really wanted to get some opk but I waited too long so even if I ordered some ic they would not arrive in time. I checked a few stores and they cost like $50 for 7 - seems like way too much $$$!! I am just planning to bd A LOT until FF tells me it happened.

We are all getting close to the half way mark of our cycles yay!!! Baby dust to all!!
OMG OPK is so expensive where you are... they are £7 (about $11) for I think 7 here which I guess isn't bad really. I'm not going to bother with them this month though and see how long my cycle is this month (or hopefully I won't see my next AF to find out!!!) and just keep at the BD'ing... I think it's the best thing to do tbh.. BD..BD..BD ... did you say this was your 3rd month too? Sorry, I forget *goes back to look*

This is our second month ttc officially. I know they are sooo exepnsive and I have checked many stores too! I gave in and bought some today. Any suggestions on when I should try them? I am cd11 today with a cycle anywhere from 28-32 days long. I want to try my best to not waste them.

Wow! That is way expensive!! A box of 30 here cost about $50 and you can get them online for roughly a buck each. I ordered 10 for $10, due to arrive tomorrow. Here is some info I found at FertilityFriend on how/when to test using OPK's. Good luck to you sweetie!

"Ovulation Prediction Kits (OPKs), also sometimes called Ovulation Prediction Tests (OPTs) have become quite popular and can be quite useful to help you find your fertile time. OPKs work by measuring the presence of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in your urine. LH surges about 24 hours before ovulation. This causes your ovary to produce enzymes which in turn cause the dominant follicle to rupture and release the ovum into the fallopian tube. This is ovulation. An OPK is thus expected to be positive the day before you ovulate. It is also not unusual to see a positive OPK result the same day you ovulate. Following a few guidelines can help you get the most out of your OPK.

Like any product, follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.

If you do not test every day from before you expect to be most fertile, you may miss the surge. Likewise, if you test too late, you may miss the surge.

Testing daily once you have started to test is the best strategy. Your first positive OPK result probably means that you are about to ovulate. Since OPK packages include only a limited number of test strips and are fairly expensive, timing when to start testing is crucial.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions about the time to take your OPK. First morning urine is usually not the best for OPKs since your LH surge usually begins in early morning when you are still sleeping and may not be apparent in your first morning urine. If you test in the early morning, you may miss your surge entirely since LH levels may already be reduced by the next morning. Late morning or early afternoon is usually best unless the instructions (or your doctor) suggest otherwise.

Unless the manufacturer's instructions suggest otherwise, record your OPK results as positive if the test line is as dark as or darker than the control line. Record your results as negative if the test line is lighter than the control line. For digital tests, follow the manufacturer's directions.

Do not rely exclusively on OPK results to time intercourse as you may not see an LH surge (positive OPK) even though you may be fertile. Your increased fertility begins before you see a positive OPK result since sperm can live in the reproductive tract for a few days in fertile cervical fluid.

During your potentially fertile time, have intercourse at least every other day even before you see a positive OPK result. Switch to every single day once you see a positive result until ovulation has been confirmed by your temperature data. (Talk to your doctor about intercourse frequency if you suspect any sperm issues).

If you are taking Clomid, ask your doctor or the OPK manufacturer when to start testing with OPKs.

The Clearplan Fertility Monitor works by measuring the presence of both estrogen and Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in your urine."

I got OPKs from Walgreens. About 20 for 20 $. They are the dipstick kind, so you will need to pee in a cup. I didn't absolutely love them, 'cause I never got a complete positive. But maybe it ws just me? Definitely look online on ebay, amazon, babyhopes etc and I am sure you will find reasonably cheap ones.

But if you are looking for the smiley kind, then you will have to shell out more money!

Hi ladies I took an opk yesterday and it was neg. This is also my first month checking cm but I did find a little blob that resembled ewcm. Been busing bding and we tried preseed for the first time last night, too!! It was good because it added that extra sliperiness but it was also different because it meant we planned to bd and tbh that was our first time planning it!! We always just go with it iykwim? Makes it a bit more clinical I suspose - anyone else feel that way?

Nix - congrats with your positive opk!!

OK, I just found this and want to get in if you ladies don't mind... CD1 was Mar 9 for me as well, AF ended on Mar 12 and hubby and I started full throttle bd'ing Mar 13-17 every day since that is all we had before I had to take him to base for deployment. Unfortunately, I don't think I have O'd yet, and Mar 17 was our last night together. So if I didn't hit it this month, I am officially out of the game till hubby gets back, which could be a year. Hope you are all doing well and hoping for many Easter (or around then) BFP!!

I wanted to add that I am actually TTCAL, blighted ovum in Jan after falling pregnant last year in Nov, was 10w 5d along before we knew there was a problem. Had D&C and didn't get first AF till Mar 9. Also had a chemical pregnancy in between the D&C and AF... really sucks... I am turning 34 this year and really hoped I would be pregnant again before hubby left for deployment.
