I have a drs appointment at 6 today to discuss baby-making stuff. Had anyone else had an appointment like this and if so, any advice of what questions I need to ask / what he might recommend the next course of action is?
Basically, we’ve been trying for 6 months with no results. I’m gonna say we’ve been trying for a year (eeeps, naughty me!). I know it’s still early days in any people’s eyes but I just feel it’s time I spoke to my dr. I suspect I have a short luteal stage so do you think he might advise a CD21 blood test to check progesterone levels? x
As you know my appt isn't till next month so I haven't "been there, done that" but I am planning to ask for the blood test battery -day 4, day 21, etc- for me, ask if it's possibly to check my thyroids as well as check my tubes (since ovaries and uterus look fine) and then focus on him. Evidently the sample will be done by then so I'll focus on asking what our IUI options are if the results are as bad as expected and so on.
You on the other hand don't want to have him checked, is that correct? You're presuming the issue is you?
Anyhow, I'm very excited that you're going and sorting this and can't wait to hear every detail when you get back, dude!
Hi Trixie, I went my my App last week.
I had my result's yesterday.
We have been trying for a year now, I was meant to go back after 6 month's but I decided to give it abit longer.
Anyhow, I said I was concerned I wasn't Ov'ing (as OPK's don't work on me at all) and my temp's were messy, no real sign of O.
I said I was worried that I didn't OV at all for some reason.
That was basis enough to get Blood's done I think.
So maybe if you mention something similar he/she may sort out a test for you.
I hope all goes well and they do something.
I think it should be standard procedure these day's. For every woman that is TTC they should be able to get blood's etc done beforehand. Rather than have to wait X amount of time to then find out they are infertile for whatever reason.
It's so bloody unfair.
Good luck with it Chick, let us know how you get on

good luck hun, when i first went i opened my heart, and told them everything, what i was concerned about etc.. you have to be adiment you want some sort of testing
xx
Take all your chart stuff with you if you can (just tell him you started 6 months ago). When I took a little chart that I had with all my cycle lengths on it, my gyn was like, "uh huh! looks like you might not be Oing". They will ask you about diet and smoking, drugs, etc...and tell you prob to take prenatals and folic acid now. I hope that the do some blood work just to make sure your hormones and everything are in good order. I actually am getting my blood taken today at CD 21 to test my progesterone level.
My gyn was so great, I cannot even tell you! She wanted to test me right away and get me preg asap. First she had me get blood work to test a WHOLE bunch of things, and then an ultrasound. Now, I am getting the other bloodwork.
I really hope that they are helpful! and let us all know what happens
My only advice would be to be fairly persistent and strong about what you want, especially if you want blood tests. I went in determined to have blood tests sorted out and then wimped out when she said it hadn't been very long! Having said that, if you're going to say a year you should be fine. Just go in clear about what you want to achieve and don't be swayed! Good luck
