Two weeks ago yesterday I got what I thought was a positive on an OPK - I say 'thought' because the test was very hard to read. It looked like the surge line was as dark as the test line. I did another OPK the following day and got the same result.

My question is, can you get a positive OPK and not ovulate? Or if I got my surge on the Sunday/Monday when should I have expected to ovulate. I am trying to calculate when AF will arrive. I had some symptoms last week like dragging sensation, etc. but that all disappeared over the weekend and I have nothing now.

Can anyone offer any advice??

Hi snowflake - sorry I can't offer any advice but I am having the same problem. OV stick looks positive 14 days ago and then negative the next day so i figured I'd OV'd. But no AF and no BFP so not really sure now whether I actually OV'd or not. I had cramps at the end of last week which seem to have gone now as well. I am just testing every few days and trying not to worry about it!

I would say that if you got a positive OPK, then you have ovulated. It is possible to get a positive result if you are on certain medications including Clomid (I've read this) and it usually produced a number of positive test sticks in a row.

However, if you are not on meds and get a positive reading, you should ovulate 24 - 36 hours after getting this result. The only way of narrowing down exactly when you ovulate is to see a temperature rise of about 3 days afterwards and then you can note the day before the first temp rise as the most likely day of ovulation. Unfortunately its not an exact science and not possible to be more specific.

As for getting a few results the same in a row, that's quite common too as the hCG hormone can stay high for a big longer in some cycles.
