caffeine and prenatals

Think taking prenatal vitamins/folic acid with caffeine (coffee) isn't a good idea???

Yeah, im a bit confused about this as well..

I do know that caffeine apparently is bad when ttc and pg so now I only drink decaf coffee and tea these days.. 3-5 days a week ill have a cheeky fizzy drink like iron bru (hey, i live in scotland after all, lol) or diet coke, but only one.. I think the general idea that a couple of cups of tea or coffee is alright. The prenatals however is a must, missy

Id say if you cannot lower your intake of caffeine then switch to decaff version.

There's no way I'm going to stop tea and coffee while TTC. My very first pg symptom with no1 was wanting to puke after a cup of my beloved earl grey, so I have to keep on slurping just in case it gives me a sign for no2!!!!

Caffiene increases risk of miscarriage if too much is taken. I did project on it in uni b4 xmas. Basically ur are all some tho my doc said better to have none and to cut down slowly. Caffeines in flu and cold tablets, chocolate, some icecreams and all the usualls eg coke coffee tea. You can see how much caffeine gives u what if u search thrui the web eg coffee granules have less than fresh ground coffee from coffee shops etc.
When i did the project i found a picture of caffeine(it was a white powder and there was a person pretending to sniff it up there nose(it was a joke)). I used that as my front page as it showed the point that its a drug.
I think a little wont harm like everything really

sorry i do go on

I just know that caffeine depletes calcium intake....so just thought that maybe it wasn't the best to take with these vitamins, as every morning I get a cup of coffee with some cream/sugar and take my vitamins for the day...

But I have cut my caffeine a ton! This cup once a day is the only caffeine I drink. I will have a diet soda like once or twice a month...I perfer water now...

Yeah I agree - caffeine is definitely a drug! I usually have 2-3 cups of tea/coffee a day max, and never drink the really strong stuff, just nescafe and earl grey and I leave the bag in for about 3 seconds. When you did your project did you find out what the safe levels are? Sounds like you worked really hard on it - hope you got an A!

I don't think I'm anywhere near as good about caffeine as I should be. I'd have about 3 cups of normal tea a day and then soft drinks every now and then. I had heard that up to 4 cups of a caffeinated drink in a day was fine if you were pg?

I'll definitely cut down properly once I get my BFP but I don't see the point in cutting out all the nice things in life until then!

I think its bad if taken excessively, but I don't think the odd cup is too bad?
One of my best friends lives on tea and got her in 2 months (cow)

Perhaps start the day with Vits and a smoothie? (then the coffee!!)
