I think hot shower would be different because your not immersed in hot water, so a hot shower wouldn't make your temp rise... Or at least not as much...

Can I ask, do you know why this is?

I have heard before that pregnant women should have HOT baths - but had heard it was just because you can become light headed??
My Mom told me the same thing, she actually said pregnant women should not take baths period, not just hot baths.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says that becoming overheated in a hot bath is not recommended during pregnancy.
Apparently, a body temperature of 101º F and above can raise concerns during pregnancy, as studies have shown an increased risk of birth defects in babies of women who had an increased body temperature during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Who knows?
I didn't know this when i was pregnant with my two, and took plenty of hot baths, and my pregnancies were healthy, my children fine.

Apparently, it's just a risk factor. It's up to the individual whether or not to take that risk.

Thank you for that.

I don't know, there are sooo many things that you're not supposed to do/are supposed to do, if we believed all of them (IMO) we'd be wrapped up in cotton wool & not leave the house for 9 months!!

Yeah, but look how many teen moms/ uneducated moms have perfectly healthy babies every day.
And you just know they didn't avoid all this stuff... probably didn't even know they were supposed to.

I've seen nothing that indicates to me that educated women who read and follow all the latest medical recommendations have healthier pregnancies or healthier children.

I am excluding drug use from this equation; obviously, when pregnant women use illicit drugs or drink to excess, it will have an adverse effect on their babies, and I think just about everybody knows this.

Hi Girls
I might confuse you all more!!lmao....
My friends a beautician and is in her 3rd Tri now but couple months ago we were chatting,i told her how i had my 2nd boy and that my midwife had told me to get into a hot bath at home before we went to hos.
She couldnt believe it when i told her, because seemingly the reason why pregnant ladies cant take hot baths,saunas/steam rooms and jacuzzi is because the temp/bubbles can trigger contractions!!
Now i know what she meant because i wasnt in the bath 2mins(2nd preg) when the pains got so unbearable i had to literally crawl out with help!!
Horrible!! It def brought on labour but terribly uncomfortable!!and potentially dangerous!

Well there's a handy tip for when we're all a bit further on in our journey! I had heard of Raspberry Tea but not that!
