I'm Currently Feeling: | Are we positive about this? Because if it is so and it's confirmed medical fact why the "no dying of hair, no drinking, no painkillers in the first month of pregnancy" craze? | | | | Status: Offline

Also, you can take certain painkillers as well, my doc for intstance, said to me while i was pg to take the smallest dose i can if i had a headache or similar.
And to reiterate, your baby does not recieve any of your bloodsupply until it starts growing a placenta , and develops arteries that lock into your bloodsupply before week 5. Until then it lives on what would have been your period.
I also think you will find 'being careful' does not only apply to 1st month of pregnancy but first trimester because this is when the baby develops its major organs etc. The same applies to 3rd trimester when brain etc is developing.
When in doubt as your doctor! But the prevalent thinking in the medical field today seems to be that not that all these things will do harm ( as many women dont find out their pg usually about week 4-5 and after they've taken a drink, paracetomol, a cigarette etc ) but rather of a precautionary, preventative course of action. I.e. eating sofboiled eggs- most eggs in UK for instance are treated for salmonella.. midwife still said 'would you take the risk? I woudnt when pg. But i certainly wouldnt suggest someone not eating them in the 2ww. But thats just my opionion..
I dont think anyone would say you should start to obsess about all these things already ... mainly due to the facts i stated above.
I would suggest relaxing and to enjoy life within reason!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I didn't mean it in an offensive way for the record, in fact I was rather thrilled to read your reply and done some googleing and indeed, evidently you are right.
The strange part is that all these are things I used to know before TTC has lower my IQ. | | | | Status: Offline

No worries, Kypris!! I just know this stuff cause i found out i was pg jan 7..can you imagine all the terrible scenarios that went through my head??!
I have since realised that actually being pg makes you far more paranoid about this stuff than anything you can experience ttc..
So i try to take things as normally as i can until i get the bfp- then life as i know it stops, ha, ha.. I even had liver and spinach one night when was pg cause was drawn to it in shop thinking 'aw (crazed look in face, lol) this is good stuff full of vitamins and minerals!!! LOL.. now thats crazy |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well I had my Lemsip and feel slightly better! Think the manufacturers are so afraid of deformities they all advise against until you speak to your doctor but I'm feeling so miserable!
I think the thing with the hair dye is more to do with how things might react differently when you're pg - a friend of mine has always used self tan successfully but the first time she tried after finding out she was pg she had a You've been tangoed moment! |

Just wanted to let you know, again my extensive knowledge, ha, ha..this the midwife told me..the reason so many drugs state not to take during pg is that although most are likely to be harmless they have not been tested on preggers women so they always state 'ask your doc' ..but then again thats good advice anyway, i guess..
Glad you're feeling better, chicken ! xxx |

| I know you can take paracetamol and I think that's the main ingredient in Lemsip. Ibuprufen is the big no no as it's an anti inflamatory.
POAS is good for colds too. Waahaahaa! |
