5 to 7 week cycles using an OPK?

My cycles are very irregular anything from 35 days to 49 days. Occasionally shorter and longer.

When would you start using a OPK?
I found some nice cheepies in my local savers shop so I thought I would give them a go.

Hi tommyg, I have had v long cycles too up to 65 days! I started using opks quite early, but if your LP is around 14 days I would start testing about 20 days before the earliest you might expect AF. Opks can be v expensive with long irregular cycles!

I was like that with my last cycle, it just seemed as if it was never comming. Good Luck.

I have been TTC 6 months and I have used opks for 4 months (only 2 cycles) I used CB digis 1st time then I used ICs and FRs and CB digi and never got a positive on anything but the CB. So that's all I'm going to use this cycle... But I don't Ov til about CD26-31 so it's such a long wait... I had 36day LPs with those 1st 2 cycles but was down to 14 with the last one... Still bloody 44 day cycle though. 1st cycle as I said I started OPKs early, about CD7 because I didn't have a clue when I would ovulate... But it cost a fortune!

Misskat, I'm sorry about your MC you must be soooo frustrated by now... I do know how you feel with the ridiculous cycle... It's such a waste of time... I hope the witch shows so you can get on with the next one... or that you get a BFP after all this time! X x x

Long cycles are a nightmare however I do recall the days of thinking it was great not having to worry about being prepared for AF.

A 14day LP sounds more normal than 36 days. Could the 36 days be that your body was preparing to realise an eggy but then never? Yip I can imagine that testing from CD7 would cost a small fortune, that is one of the reasons I never did it last cycle. I will see how I get on with the cheepos that I bought today.

I charted as well so pretty sure I ovulated and everything was 'normal', I was pretty stressed and also think I have endo so that prob caused the AF delay... I'm hoping from now it will stay down to 14 days.

Going for tcm acupuncture consultation next week and also going to try EPO and soya isoflavones (?) to bring cycle down... Might be worth you looking into them if you always have v long cycles...

Good luck with the cheapies hope they work for you x x x

I read on my box that with cycles around 30 days or longer that it is best to start testing five days after the last day of your period. I would double check with your particular test booklet, or read what the reviews for the product have to say.
Sorry if that's a wishy-washy answer. Good luck, though!
