Channel 4 documentary

Did anyone watch 8 boys wanting a girl on channel 4 last night?

One of the women said when she thinks that she can't have a girl she likened her feeling to that of a woman who can't have children??!!!

Made my blood BOIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What were your thoughts on the programme.

I think in an ideal world everyone should be able to have what they want and I did really feel for those who were going to extreme measures to try to have a girl but when she likened it to not being able to have children when she already had healthy boys it made me sick.

She was such a vile human being, I mean she wouldn't marry her partner until they had a baby girl!!! Then at the end she was saying oh yes my life is so wonderful and all I imagined it to be, but when she said it I didn't believe her, she looked as though she was lying. I think she was the kind of person where nothing is ever good enough and she would never be happy.

I know and when the other lady had her scan and she cried her eyes out cause it was another boy! I was just sat holding back the tears thinking how i would have loved to see my scan like that but we didn't get that far and our baby was just still on the scan screen. I shouldn't have watched it really but I found the science part of it extremely interesting just had to try and blank out the women from it.

I felt bad for feeling like that cause I think everyone is entitled to be happy but it's just hard isn't it when you are TTC and people say silly things like that.

i think ppl like that have problems i really do a child is a child u should love them no matter what and it was clear for there way they felt empty without a lil girl i mean that older women was prepared to risk her health for it hows that gonna feel to her kids should something of gone wrong during the pregancy or birth?

Here here, I was waiting for a thread to start about this, I found the documentary really appalling - there is no likening it to women unable to have children, how could she possible know? and as for the woman who burst into tears when she found out it was another boy - I hope her 5th son does not watch this show back when he is older as it was so evident that she'd lost interest in the pregnancy once she knew it wasn't a girl.

I do love these shows though!

I agree with you are all saying, having a baby should be about having a baby, things like this make me angry because of the medical implications, while I do not try and understand what their state of mind I do reason with the fact that cases like this and octomum are what have left IVF technology so behind, people against IVF always use these for ammunition against it because there are people out that would if they could pick out every small thing for their child like its a custom car, they need to sort our their priorities!

i wanted to fling something at her. I would never ever wish infertilty on anyone, but i wished it on her. How can she say that. The women who had the healthy boy i thought was horrid as well. She had a healthy baby and she cryed like that
