me and oh have about 10K set aside. We're young but Oh is a big saver and I save a little. We set aside 5K out of that just in case when we finally get that bfp we can pay for the birthing center we both want since my insurance might not do it. Then the rest is for baby. I'm sure we'll have more as he and I still put money in every paycheck.

no savings here either! in fact i have about £4k of debt but I pay an amount each month and have for a couple of years, even on maternity pay I'll still be able to pay that so I'm not worried, once I'm pregnant itll be the first grandchild so it will be spoilt rotten and I know so many people with prams and clothes for boys or girls so I'll never really have to worry - biggest expense will be nappies, i plan to breastfeed so won't need forumla until about 6 months old or so!

lol i've never been a big saver - more a 'live in the moment' kinda girl! so I know what you mean!

me and OH live comfortably although will be good when the fixed mortgage ends so we can get a lesser payment each month that will help tons! But we're lucky there will be two sets of grandparents and OH's parents are quite well off plus his sister can't have children and is a lesbian and don't think she's very into kids anyway (she's 33) so the grandkids by me and OH will be spoiled rotten!

Ditto.
We're not wealthy at all. That isn't going to change. The professions we have are the ones we'll work in for the rest of our lives: we love them! Although they don't pay much.
We haven't saved anything because there's really nothing to save. We pay our rent and bills every month, and the money's gone.

On the bright side, we're far more financially stable than I was when I had my first two. We'll be fine. Babies and small children don't need new things. Hand-me-downs are fine. They can't tell the difference, and re-using things feels more environmentally responsible to me, more in line with what we believe in and how we live our lives.

We saved around £15k before we started ttc and are on our sixth cycle, so have saved a little more since. I figure it should give us a good start!

I saved about $12,000 which is about 6000 pounds. It was more than enough really and i spent $3000 on flights to the UK from that. I am due back at work next month and am on vacation now and its just the last few months we have been starting to struggle a bit. You will be fine.

Each month since we started to TTC, we've put aside the monthly cost of daycare. This way if I continue to work, we're already used to living on the money left over. And if I decide to stay at home, we'll have a nice savings cushion while we get used to living on one income. Since it's taken a bit longer than expected, by the time we actually have a baby, we'll have quite a stash put together.

Thanks ladies! You've all really helped. It's been really useful reading about everyones different situations.

DH and I have decided just to go for it! I'm on my 7 day break from the pill so the timing couldn't be better.

Baby dust to all!
