I'm Currently Feeling: | Jogging Whilst TTC?? Hiya
I'm really missing my jogging - not that i did a huge amount! I used to go out for 30 mins and basically do 2min walk / 1 min jog - stick my music in my ears and zone out.
Anyway, started worrying that it wasn't a good think to do when TTC - totally irrational thinking that if i went for a run then the little swimmers wouldn't have the energy to run up hill!
So i guess my question is - would anyone else go jogging if it was like that? i'm on my 2WW - can test next Wednesday. Guess i know that the jogging clears my head and i kinda hope it might stop me going loopy with all this TTC stuff!
Any advice?? | | | | Status: Online

I'm Currently Feeling: | hi hun. I am exactly the same - i do a really hard step class 3 x a week - but now i go the first 2 weeks of my cycle and then stop when i am ov and for the 2ww. dont want to disturb anything that may be happening.
it is probably really irrational - but aren't we all completley irrational when ttc. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Maybe you should ask doc for some advice? A friend of mine regularly trains (running) and belongs to an athletics club. She continued running until she was over 7 months preg, and had no probs.
However, I'm not sure whether or not she should have been doing that! Maybe she was just lucky, so you should get some advice. Good luck. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Heya!
I'm a very regular runner, I run about 10-12km nearly every day, and its NO PROBLEM according to my doc. If you're gonna conceive, you'll conceive, and a 30min jog a few times a week will NOT stop it! promise!
But as the others have said, we often feel better after hearing it from our own doctor - so go ahead and ask! and |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I was told that I should definitely carry on with my exercise programme when TTC. I cycle in the local hills and do 50 mins on the cross trainer about 3 or 4 times per week. I know that you shouldn't overdo things in the first trimester, but it doesn't mean you should stop either. If you weren't jogging before now isn't the best time to start as it could be a jolt to your system and you should try someother gentle exercise like swimming, but if you've always been a jogger than carry right on! |

| there is no problem with running/jogging whilst ttc....i actually saw a program that showed that women who exercise regularly during their pg tend to have more "active" babies later in life (not up crying all night active, but just physically fit and healthier). if you think about it, after the fertilized egg implants, it is expecting your uterine lining to give it lots of blood filled with nutrients and oxygen!! and when we exercise, we take in more oxygen then normal, flowing in and out of our system at a much better and efficient rate. so why wouldnt jogging actually help get all those nutrients to the egg to start growing into a happy and healthy baby! ask your doc to be sure, but thats always what i have thought about the subject.
if you are still concerned, try the method suggested, and exercise more regularly before ov, and then settle a bit until you are comfortable with what is going on with your body. i think the most critical moments are right after bdiing (i hear the best thing to lay on your back and pull your legs to your chest to let those little swimmers get up and in the game) , and maybe a few days pov. i wouldnt think it would be a big deal tho, because being inside the uterus is a bit like being underwater i suppose....a bit weightless...not to mention gravity has very little effect on something the size of a...wait i dont know anything that size! the cells in our fingers dont make it to our toes do they??? i think we will be alright keeping outselves fit for our beans to have a happy and healthy tummy home!!! |

| As they say, all in moderation. Sure it's fine to run while TTCing. Here's the 'expert' advice anyway - This is from Zita West's 'Guide To Getting Pregnant' book (she's a fertility expert):
'I feel that many women I see are exercising far too much (exercising for more than 15 hours a week may affect and inhibit ovulation), and I encourage them to cut down. Exercise in moderation - no more than three aerobic sessions a week - is good for endorphin-release and can prevent depression.' |
