when ovulation tests go from pos to neg

How long after ovulation do ovulation test go from positive to negative.

I took an ovulation test on Saturday morning last week and my results were very slightly lighter than the control line ( I would consider it a positive). Then Sunday morning my results were completely negative.

From what I understand the egg is able to be fertilized up to 48 hours after ovulation. So up to the 48 hours should ovulation test still be positive since I could still get pregnant???

confused.......

This month was the first month i started doing OV tests.

- CD12 took the first test...line was about 1/4 dark as the control
- CD13 the 2nd test, NOTICEABLY darker, i was excited, but was only about 1/2 - 3/4 dark. i thought maybe tomorrow.
- CD14 Third test and was dark as dark could be, i was ecstatic. I wasn't sure (as i never used them before) if this could be the surge, if it could be what a positive looks like.
- CD15 I thought SURELY the line will be darker today, took test...nothing...the line was fainter than the first one i did on CD11. I was shocked, really, but that confirmed to me that CD14 was the positive and ovulation occurred!

hope this helped you a bit. this was just this past week for me, as i am on CD16 today!

opks test the hormone levels in your body, since they go up and down during each cycle, which is what makes you ovulate and then menstrate (different hormones do different things). opks test for the hormone that makes you ovulate....therefore when it is detected (pos test) that means that the hormone has been released in your body and that hormone will tell the ovary to let an egg out....so to answer your question, you are only positive when that hormone is in your wee, and then out pops an egg and travels down the ft, which is where it can get fertilized. sooooo.....after you get the pos test, you will get neg and still be able to fertilize the egg!! so in very basic terms...once you see a line, bd bd bd!! so go get offf the comp and find your dp!!!
to clarify that if it was confusing, you will get a pos BEFORE you are able to get pg, which is why its a good predictor for when to bd!
