Hi all - new to this but thought it was about time I spoke after looking through so many posts - if found reading everyone's experiences so comforting - feel better i'm not the only one! My main question is about Provera but here's my story so far:

Came off pill (Yasmin) in Sept 08. Had a few light AFs. Then in April 09 had 1 day of AF, VERY heavy, stopped abruptly. Since then .... nothing. So that's 9 months with no AF.

Was convinced I was preggers at first (nausea, really sore boobs and weird twinges in abdomen) but lots of BFNs. Since then, blood tests came out normal but an ultrasound found a 1.8 cm simple cyst on one ovary (maybe that's the cause of the twinges? Although they are on the opposite side! Maybe trying to ov from 'good' side??)

Temps and OPKs show I'm not ovulating at the mo. Have been having acupuncture (+chinese herbs) for 2 months and am taking vitex. I just want something to work

Have been referred to a gynaecologist (going in a few days). Think I'm going to ask him to give me Provera or the equivalent. Can anyone tell me about their experience taking Provera - did it bring ov back? I heard it can kick-start your cycle. I'm surprised my doc (in the UK) hasn't already prescribed it as I've read about increased cancer risk if no AF for ages...
Doc says the cyst won't be the reason for no ov/af but I can't help thinking it's related.

Would love to hear about your experiences / thoughts....

Hello, sorry to hear about all your problems. Why is life so complicated?!
I am awaiting my normal AF but am beginning to doubt it will ever come....60 days and counting. Finished BCP in late Nov 2009, so although it is early days for me, I am already beginning to fret and becoming obsessed....
Sorry I don't have any experience (yet!) of Provera and I haven;t starting temping or anything yet....

Hi, it's easy to get obsessed isn't it? I find it hard to think about much else at the mo. No one told me it would be this hard, spent all that time avoiding pregnancy and now i want it so much!

I hope your AF comes soon - it's quite normal for coming off BCP to delay AF apparently. I'll keep you posted, esp if I get given Provera on Friday x

i've taken provera 3 times after finding out i have PCOS i took it in July and august and i stop bc i moved to a diff state and had no more refills but i still got a period but each month they got further and further apart until November then it stoped i took provera on dec.09 and got my period on dec.23!

Look forward to hearing what the doc says. I am getting carried away reading this forum, you can while away many an hour when you should be doing something more productive like work or housework!!

I stopped bcp in October and still waiting for AF - frustrating or what. I am due to go back to the doctors in a few weeks and they will then do more tests etc.
I think I will ask for something to take to get my body kick started soon!

Well, went to the gyn, pretty dreadful experience. I'd written it all down so she knew it all and she wouldn't even let me get to the end! Was in there less than 10 mins. She gave me 5 days worth of Provera and another 5 days worth of Clomiphene (I guess that's Clomid?) so at least that's progress. Patient care pretty awful though! She asked if my husband has had his sperm count taken and I said no because we thought we'd only worry about me not having a cycle first as that's stressful enough and that's obviously the prob at the mo! and she said 'there's 2 of you in this relationship - he needs to take responsibility'. But he's been so nice and supportive the whole time. It made me quite upset. And she said 'how long have you been married?' and I said 'a year, but together for 10' and she wrote a year on the form - don't see why that's relevant?!? Then I said 'do these pills have a good success rate?' and she said 'that's why I'm giving them to you' Treated me like I'm thick!!

Phew, rant over, better just take the pills! Thanks for listening x x x

She said she reckons I have polycystic ovaries but I don't know what that's based on as ultrasound only showed 1 cyst.
