I have done exactly the same thing! I think if I eat a packet of crisps with some vegetables then surely it works out medium not high!!

In that little book I have it says about having potatoes, and just to make sure they don't fill more that 1/4 of your plate - so you can still have them - as long as everything else is Low GI it will even out at medium!

Brilliant!

Hi girls,

You all seem to be doing very well with the GI diet - your typical menu sounds great SBB and super healthy, good for you!

Vee my appointment is actually next Thursday so will let you know what they say - really hope they don't fob me off l& say come back in 6 months like they did with you Violet, how frustrating! I'm hoping they'll just prescribe me clomid straight off but we'll see! I'm already on metformin, GP prescribed that for me last month but too early to say whether it has had an effect.

It is great to share with people that are in the same position and I wish you all lots of luck.

Laura xx (LJW! - starting to wish I'd picked a better user name!)

AussieMale - can you type your question in the boxes on this thread? Am wary of clicking on random links when I can't tell where they are going!

SBB - I read that potatoes are high GI unless you are eating new or sweet potatoes? Not sure what difference that makes but I'm sure that's what it said. Either way, if you even stick to 80% of that diet then you'll be fine! By the way, try Innocent Veg Pots - I had one the other day and then looked on their website - they are about the healthiest thing you can get and just need to be quickly microwaved. They have less than 3% fat, 3 of your 5 a day and some give up to 92% of your GDA of fibre! I had the woodland mushroom risotto one and they do loads of others too! Yum (By the way, despite the previous sentences I don't work for Innocent!! lol)

Laura - hope the days till next Thurs go quickly for you - when I was waiting for my appointment it really dragged! Hope it goes ok - look forward to hearing about it xxx

Sure Vee_bee,

If someone has gone through the following and can give me some advise that would be great! My wife and I have been TTC for 6 CYCLES now (not months!)... Her cycles have been 60 days, 40 days, 31 days (ovulated), 45 days, 50 days and now this month 28 days (ovulated). She has been told that this sounds like PCOS. Our gynae has given us a script for Clomid and told us to give that a try... If her last cycle was 50 days again I would be jumping at it.. but as her last cycle was only 28 days I am confused as to whether her cycle will now regulate or with PCOS if every now and then you have a "normal" cycle... Whether to try Acupuncture which a lot of people have sworn by or to simply stop mucking about and go on Clomid which the gynae said has GREAT results.....

Any advise would be great.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. My wife has been off the pill for 11 months after being on it for 10 years.
P.S.S. My wifes cycle is on day 5 on Saturday so we need to decide SOON!!!

sorry Hun I didn't explain it very well! Yeh the book says potatoes are high GI and are in the red zone, but then it gives tips and says to make sure potatoes only cover 1/4 of your plate... So what I meant is you can have them but just make sure everything else on the plate is low GI so it kind of averages out at medium. Even new potatoes are high... I am trying not to eat them at all for a couple of weeks, just to see really if I feel any different or have more energy. Depending if it does make a difference I will either stay off them or just make sure I eat less...

Those pots sound great, you should work for them! When I go shopping I'm going to buy all the stuff you've suggested!

Hey AussieMale,

Well i dont know if I can help at all but it sounds like irregular periods but they seem to be doing their own "regular" thing with cycling each month but different lengths. Is your wife using any other aids like Basal Body Temp charting or Ovulation prediction kits so you can pinpoint the days she is ovulating??

No harm in using acupunture alongside id say, went for it myself and it did get me back on track but i was missing periods for months at a time. I know clomid will get the body ovulating if its not doing that but try over in the clomid club the ladies there are v helpful and know a bit more than me. If you search the treads for clomid you should find it.

Yeah so um Hope this helps a tiny bit?

Good luck to u and ur wife!

Hi AussieMale,

It's so hard to know what to do for the best, isn't it? It deffo sounds like PCOS - that's what I've got and my cycles are just ridiculous. At the moment I don't even know if I ovulate but am really irregular. I'd be surprised if your wife's cycles suddenly re-regulated if they have been out of whack for ages...

My thoughts would be just to go for it on the Clomid - it can't do any harm and if your wife does have PCOS then even if this cycle was ok it doesn't mean the next few will be! If the doc thinks its a good idea then I'm sure they are right - I don't think they give it to you unless they think it is the right thing for you.

As for acupuncture - go for it as I think you just never know what will have a beneficial effect! I've also heard that Reflexology is really good for infertility - I haven't had it myself as my feet are super-ticklish but maybe your sife could try that as well?!

Good luck with whatever you decide x

SBB - I've had two of those Veg Pots now - they are really nice! And I've been having the smoothies as well so I am getting my 5 a day no bother! Well worth a try

How's everyone doing this week? LJW - did you have your appointment today?

Hi Vee! I haven't eaten crisps or potatoes for 9 days!!!! I really want some now! I know with smoking they say it only takes 2 weeks after giving up to get the cravings to go, do you think it's the same for crisps?!

The low-GI thing is going ok, I think I am going to stop being as strict though because it's seriously boring!

I have a bit of an issue eating breakfast, I just feel sick eating before about 11am! I don't know why, I love food but just not in the morning! So I've been having yummy smoothies as a sort of breakfast every morning... I whizz up loads of berries with a bit of yoghurt and grapefruit juice...

I haven't managed to get any of those pots, we live 'in the country' and there's no sainsburys near us! Maybe Tesco sell them.... We usually shop in Asda because it's closest, or occasionally Waitrose for a treat - I bet they sell it there!!

Laura have you had your appointment yet?
