I'm Currently Feeling: | faint line but had AF Is it possible that a hpt can show a positive when an egg is fertilized but is not implanted???
I think I had a very very faint line showing a positive on a cheapie test but then later that day AF came... | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | My understanding is that, yes it is possible. Its whats called a chemical pregnancy. You start to produce the hgc (pregnancy hormone) but the egg doesnt get to implant and so you get your af as normal. Happens a lot apparently, but many women dont know its happening as never test early enough to know.
Hope this helps, xxx | | | | Status: Offline

Hope this helps, xxx | Thats exactly what I would have said. Apparently many women have this happen but if they're not actively TTC they just take it that their period came.

I'm Currently Feeling: | I was thinking that it was a chemical...I have also been thinking lately that the walls might build up too much for the egg to implant, as AF was somewhat heavier than normal with clots, but this doesn't happen every cycle.
wonder if just drinking alcohol can thin your uterus lining? Miel was telling me in another thread that baby aspirin can help this. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | well, my understanding is slightly different. From what i've read, HCG is not produced until implantation and then takes a few days to come through on a HPT. But, sometimes, because we're able to test so early nowadays, we pick up chem. preg;s where there's been improper implantation (it implants but not properly and goes away a few days later) and so there can be a positive test picking up leftover hormone and then AF comes. In the past these would have been mistaken for late AF if it comes a few days late so because we all like to test ASAP, we pick up on far more chem. preg;s than say those not TTC or not so concerned with it. Apparantly, they're very common and nothing to do with us, usually just "faulty" sperm or egg or both and therefore not viable. wow, what a ramble! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | so I guess either way the fertilized egg didn't get implanted and the test might have just picked up on some of the Hcg being produced. It is hard for me to say if my period was late because it is irregular but it has different and I had a lot of large clots this time and before AF I had many preg symptoms... | | | | Status: Offline
