BBT Temps question

Ok, so I have been monitoring my BBT, all fine, I'm 7DPO, and I realised I'm not actually sure what my temps are meant to be doing! I read someone say they are meant to keep going up?

They went up after Ov, then started to fall a little, but today gone up (was generally around 36.2-3 before ov):
DPO2: 36.4
DPO3: 36.89
DPO4: 36.59
DPO5: 36.47
DPO6: 36.73

Can anyone tell me if this is good / bad / neither and what is supposed to happen if you are pregnant?

Thank you

Hey up SSB

I'm quite new to charting but as far as I know, and I'm sure someone can correct me if i'm wrong, your temp goes up following ovulation and stays elevated until your AF is due. Once AF hits your temp drops back down. If your temps stay elevated after your AF is due then there is a chance you're pregnant.

Hope this helps!

(Edit: - I'm 7dpo too, my chart shows my temperature going up following O and then generally bouncing around a little whilst still staying elevated)

Thanks Cheekybint - hopefully it staying up is enough then...
I really hope I get my BFP this cycle, fingers crossed for you too...

Let me know if you give in and test before 14DPO - I'm positive I will!
x x

hi girls im also 7dpo today. Yeah i think cheekybint is right as this is also my 1st cycle tempting, your temps will stary high until af. it can also take a huge dip for one day if implantation occurs but not all women get this.

xx

are you charting with FF? if you are it may be an idea to put a link on your sig.

Hiya, that's interesting about the dip if you get implantation - I'd def convince myself then!
I'm not charting with FF - is it good? I just record everything in my diary on my iphone. I just bought an app - but it won't allow me to have a cycle over 40 days (mine are 59!) or a luteal phase over 20 days (mine are 36!).

Maybe I'll give FF a go x x

Wow that is a very long cycle hun. have you had bloods done to see if everthing is as it should be?

Fertility friend is great. If you click on my ticker it will take you to the site. have a nosey around its really good. You can sign up and get a 90 days free trial with VIP and then after that expires you just get the basics. You enter your symptoms daily and it gives you pregnancy points. It tells you when you are fertile and when to bed and also tells you when you have ovulated. I have paid for the VIP after my trial expired. I couldnt live without it now.

Thanks for that I will def give it a try...

I am going to docs this afternoon for bloods as I'm 7DPO and that's when they should test apparently, I know long cycle is normal but Luteal Phase isn't, so it could be hormones or something. Have had scan as also get pains sometimes but ovaries look ok, so fingers crossed it can be sorted. It's just hard when TTC because we only get one shot every 2 months, so despite trying for 6 months that's only actually 3 ovulatuions! Aaaaahhhhh!

I'm going to have a look at your FF link now

I think what you man when you say you reas they are meant to keep going up is that some women get a triphasic pattern. What happens then is that after implantation you get a second temp rise. This can be a sign of pregnancy. Alhough, i've had triphasic charts both when i have been pregnant and also when i haven't.

Can i just ask? How do you know your exact O day if you're not using a chart? What i am trying to get at is maybe your O date is actually later than what you think and that's why you seem like you have a mega long LP?

Hi, I know when I ovulate as I use OPK (clearblue digital), also EWCM and the temp rise afterwards... So I'm 99% sure that I ovulated 7 days ago... Who knows maybe this month I'll get a 'normal' Luteal phase. Or a BFP! Then I don't need to worry about it! xx
