Stop ttc?

I'm currently TTC, and am wanting to go to Europe (from Canada) in just under a year.
If i get pregnant soon (..lets hope!!) the baby would be around 1-3 months old at the time of the trip. Is travelling with a baby this age advisable?? Or should i stop TTC until a few months before the trip?
Has anyone travelled with a young baby and have advice?

(i realize this doesnt really fit under TTC, but wasnt sure where else to put it...)

I don't think you need to put of TTC, you just need t ask yourself could you handle traveling with a small baby?

I think if you get pg ... All answers come naturally afterward
but I am sure you can travel with a baby.

Personally I wouldn't let anything put TTC on hold, but everyone is different. If you're willing to travel with a small child I'd say continue TTC as normal

I wouldn't put it off either as you just don't know whether you would have missed the golden cycle or not. You will always find a way and perhaps you could look at deferring your trip to a time when baby (if you're lucky) is at a better age to travel.

One thing I wouldn't fancy is travelling in the early stages of pregnancy, especially if I suffered from morning sickness and I personally wouldn't fly in my first trimester on such a long trip. Again, it's personal choice of course.

My BIL and SIL are planning to travel to the UK from Malyesia (sp?) in Dec, and their baby is due 31st Aug - so I think it can be done. Not sure I'd like to do it though

Are you going to travel extensively while in Europe? Is it a tour or going to a specific location?

If it's the latter I wouldn't see it as a problem myself.

One thing to consider is that the due date predictors you find online rarely match what happens in reality so one can easily be overdue or early.

the real concerns are these:

the flight...cannot be in the last month of pregnancy (by law) and cannot fly with a child under a certain age (like one month or something like that). that being said, you technically can fly and travel under any other circumstances.

also, traveling with a backpack is hard, let alone an infant that poos and pees all the time and needs feeding constantly. concerns here are: will you be staying put or traveling around? traveling around will be aweful with a small one, mentally and physically. are you going to be breast feeding? that will likely be strange sitting inches from a stranger on a plane, or in the middle of nowhere in europe while you explore the city.

and lastly, where will you be staying and do they accomodate newborns? do they allow newborns? (believe it or not, they have a tendency to keep people up!) these are all things you must consider with someone so small!

as a traveler myself, i have gotten the traveling out of my system before i went on this endeavor of ttc.

do remember, there are also the possibilities of parents, family, or friends who might love to sit for your newbie. it would be a lot to ask someone, but it is an option. and if your plans are not set in stone, you may want to continue ttc and work around that. if they are, you may just want to putting it off. now i know, thats not the most fun option of them all considering we are all trying harder than we would ike to admit to get a bean to stick, but would it be worth the miserable trip to europe come time???? its just soooo much more stress to add to something that already can be very stressful.

I would say no - don't put off TTC. Weigh both sides before making your decisions though.

We aren't traveling out of the country, but we are planning on flying in March 2009. If I get pregnant this cycles the baby will be right at 2 months old. We are planning our second trip to Disney World and it's about a 2 hour flight. I think the rule is you can travel with an infant who is at least 10 days old. I am excited about traveling with such a small baby - providing there is one - I've heard it is easier with a small baby than one that is crawling, walking, ect....

Good luck!!

Thanks everyone

I read on the internet that it IS definitely easier to travel with a young infant... since, of course, all they do is eat, sleep, cry and poop!
There is NO way i can put off this trip... (long story... once-in-a-lifetime thing)... and my OH wont be coming along... but there WILL be about 50 other people that i know in the tour group with me. We are going on a bus tour, around France, Italy, Austria and Germany. The trip is only 12 days, but there isnt any way i'd leave the baby at home with OH, since i'm planning on breastfeeding exclusively.

Oh well. I'll cross that bridge when i come to it, i guess
Thx for the help, ladies!
