I'm Currently Feeling: | I agree that you can't put your life totally on hold. TTC takes over and is stressful enough without having to give up everything you enjoy. Obviously I'm not saying get drunk every night, but a couple on a night out wont do any harm.
If it was me, I'd probably have a couple and then like you say, start drinking coke or lemonade in a small glass so it just looks like a vodka!!

I'm Currently Feeling: | I totally agree with Omi and Nic....
The little bean survives off the amniotic fluid until its around 10 weeks. Not hooked up to the placenta and your blood supply in the very early stages!!
Before I got my BFP with my DD, I was out on the lash quite abit!!!(Obviously I didn't know I was pg) And she was healthy and I had no probs!!!
Whilst I am TTC I have the odd glass of wine...maybe 2 a week, but when AF arrives and up until O time, I may go out and have a few more than 1!!!hehe
If a drink makes you relax then I totally agree that u should have one!!! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Oh Lordy, I'm sure this is a touchy topic but let's not be overly dramatic.... http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnanc...afety/alcohol/
Even this is on the dramatic side but it clearly says it's fine to ingest some alcohol. Sure, don't get drunk... (well unless you're before O and then it's okay) but a small glass of wine won't do any harm. - To be fair what's the fun in a small glass of wine?!?-
With alcohol there is always a multitude of factors to be considered especially body weight and food consumption and chances are the smaller quantities will never be harmful to a -let's face it- cell. | | | | Status: Offline

| I sometimes have the odd drink or 2 cos bubba doesn't start taking its sustenance from you till week 5. If I got a BFP, I wouldn't let any alcohol pass my lips (mebbe a sip of champers at a wedding but not sure it's worth it). I never get drunk on 2ww.
TBH, I think it might help to drink a glass of wine or 2 around OV times - for example, my mate was TTC for 7 months and she reckons she eventually conceived after she had 3-4 glasses of wine one night and had the best sex ever! The wine made her relaxed, naughty and got the juices flowing, so to speak (ha ha!) and she reckons that's why she conceived, cos she was so chilled and the spermies had lots of CM to float around in! So might have a coupla cheeky glasses on my romantical weekend this weekend!
Let's face it, the real issue is drinking when u know your PG after 5 weeks, once the baby starts taking your food and drink. I think that's silly cos as fertility expert Zita West says (and all the experts at the moment), after week 5, alcohol is 'feto-toxic'. x | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | i agree, i dont think there is any harm in having a few drinks. My mum had no idea she was pregnant with my little brother and had been out on a hen night the weekend before she found out and got pretty drunk and the doc says there was nothing to worry about. And he was fine. Go and enjoy yourself within your own limits. danni xxx | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | After more than 18 months ttc, which was after 9 months being pg, I've learnt that you can't put your life on hold. I carry on exactly as normal. I've got a glass of red next to me now, and we're out for a meal Saturday, then back down the local pub. I can't drink too much because of the collapsed lung last weekend, but I'm still going to have more than two. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks everyone - you've all been more than helpful.
Nic - I don't think its the same person - this was all really sudden and I only found out on Tuesday. He got pneumonia and then septasemia (sp?)
Anyway, decided just to carry on and stick to the odd glass of wine (and a few more when visits!!!)
Thanks again | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | It is a very personal decision. I have chosen not to drink alcohol ever since TTC. I also love pepsi, I now use that as my Friday evening treat, by not drinking it during the week, it makes it a treat when i do drink it.
But as others have said, i'm sure the odd glass won't make much difference in the very early days. I just chose not to take that chance. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | As it takes about 7 days to 10 days for the baby to implant in the womb, drinking in the 2ww will probabkt not affect the baby. If you are concerned, stop drinking a couple of days before your test date.
Also, like other girls have said, if you avoid drinking altogether you could really put your life on hold while you are ttc.
Good luck! | | | | Status: Offline
