CD 24, TOOK PREG TEST Y'DAY, WAS IT TOO EARLY??

Hi, I am on day 24 of cycle today and yesterday I done a home test (cheapy from the internet as Ive got through so many!!) and it was a BFN, do you guys think it was too early to test? I did it in the afternoon but I had held off going to the loo for a couple of hours. Reason I did test was that Ive had a couple of different symtoms this month, ie: falling asleep in middle of the day (unlike me), very spotty, and last week I had a very uncomfortable achy feeling in my womb area. According to the ov test sticks, I had a faint positive on the Sunday 23 march, which was cd 14. Any opinions, previous experiences would be greatly appreciated.
