I've been drinking green tea for about a week now and I have had a noticeable increase in cm. It's decaffeinated using carbon dioxide so I am not sure how that can be totally bad for someone...Either way, it's working for me.

I didn't realize it had an impact on folic acid. Maybe I will just drink it pre-O and then start again if AF shows...

Argh! So confusing.

I would suggest being careful with how much you drink. I was drinking lots of green tea before we were TTC because it can help with inflammation in a similar way to one of my RA drugs, methotrexate. That same similarity makes both green tea and methotrexate cause folic acid problems. When DH and I wanted to try for a baby I had to get off of the methotrexate 3 months before my Dr would let me come off of bcp because of the horrible things that can happen if you get pregnant on that drug (it was used as an abortion drug before they realized the birth defects it caused when it didn't work...). Green tea is of course is not methotrexate but the similarities scared me enough that I haven't been drinking it.
If you do want to drink it I would suggest taking folic acid supplements. I'm taking 50mg a day since I was on methotrexate and my Dr wants to be sure my levels are good enough to support a developing baby whenever I can manage to get pregnant.

It binds to folic acid thats why is a good cancer fighter, folic acid feeds tumours etc. Its said to be okay is small quantities, like normal tea and coffee, just not to drink bucket loads of it. I was a big green tea drinker before ttc, but I have cut it out altogether while ttc because Im a bit older than most ladies here and not quite sure the old body is working as effiecienty as it used to. If it is going to have an adverse effect on your folic acid then drinking it up to O will still have the same effect, you want folic acid present in its right levels before you conceive. If you take a folic acid supplement and eat a fair amount of whole grain foods then for a normal person who has no trouble processing it, a couple of cups of green tea arnt going to do any harm I dont think. The funny thing is green tea, if its matcha or sencha, contains folic acid, so does black tea in smaller quantities, reportedly 5 times more than spinach, so its a confusing one indeed!

I'v found Green tea good if your unwell e.g. nausea and they do it in ginger it's probably like everything else in moderation. So if you do drink it and get pregnant might help with MS.

Good luck ladies in your quest for an answer

Hmmm....well, I've been drinking a cup of day...not sure now if I should stop. I'm taking folic acid (super dosage as prescribed by my doc) but if the tea could affect absorption, it's kind of pointless.

Are there any other teas that are okay? I'm asking because I don't like drinking water and I know its important to be hydrated to produce good cm.

Hmmm I think I will just quit hot drinks!! If it absorbs folic acid that much!! I'm sure I read something about ripening the egg or some thing.

So glad I posted this!! Thanks ladies!!
