31 years old and TTC baby #1!

Hello ladies

Its so funny reading all of the peoples comments on here and knowing there are so many in the same spot as me!

Well hopefully this month is the month!
As of tomorrow its a 1ww and AF due on the 22/24 Jan. The witch was a day early last month which I think threw out my O day by one day and me and DH did it on the day after O day but nothing before. But I'm not sure?

I would be really happy with a November baby like me though, so if it doesn't happen this month - Its ok

I've been TTC since December so this is Cycle 2. I'm hoping my body knows what to do. I was so surprised it didn't happen first time... but reading all the research tells me it can take up to 6 months so I'm trying not to panic.

I've been using OPKs, temperature, watching cm and quit smoking and drinking last month. I've peed on a stick yesterday (5 dpo) and today (6dpo) but negative of course because its too earrlyyyy!!! But I was squinting like anything trying to see a line!

Ahh what a funny process this is and what a great forum to read other peoples experiences on . Anyone else in a similar situation?

Me too!!

I am also 31 and ttc baby #1....but unlike you my body and/or AF are playing a cruel joke with my emotions...lol. I am 5 days late and have two BFNs . I'm frustrated....uber emotional and I've prayed on it and decided to stop stressing.

I have a dr's appt on the 28th...so we will see what happens then. Good Luck and plenty of sticky BABY DUST to you!!

Wow! 5 days late I would think that was a good sign but damn those tests why do they cruelly only show one line!! None of it makes sense does it!

Oh well I hope it all turns out well for you and AF or BFP comes just so you can stop worrying... How confusing.

I could have sworn I had implantation pains on Thursday morning but I had also drunk lots of Soda... I think I'll wait until Tuesday to test again... that is either 9dpo or 11dpo depending.. I was confused by the OPK this month so just BD'd more often in case my days were wrong... is that crazy? Arrghh I thought being older than other young mums would make me more knowledgeable turns out I know a lot less!

Sticky baby dust to you

I've also been ttc since Dec (I think Dec 10 or 11th was the day we "decided" and started actively trying).
So I have been trying now for about one full cycle.
My period is also due on, I think, the 23rd.

So you and I are more or less in the same place right now.
I'm 37 and have two grown children, but I haven't been pregnant in so long that I feel like I'm starting over from scratch.
Plus, my current hubby (38 years old) has never had any kids of his own, so it's possible he's sterile. I guess we'll have to wait and find out.
It's odd to me that we've never had any "accidents" in all the years we've been together, half the time using only the withdrawal method for birth control, which is notoriously unreliable.

I almost wish I could magically make three or four months go by, so that I could say "I've been ttc now for five-six months".
Seems like then I'd have a better chance for a BFP.
At my age, it's unlikely to happen in one or two months. Statistically unlikely, anyway.
At your age, however, you should still be nearly as fertile as you were at your peak.
Fertility doesn't really start to decline rapidly until after age 35.
So you've got a great chance of a BFP this month or next. Lucky you!
Here's sending you lots of babydust!

Thanks for the good wishes ladies!

Well I couldn't resist the temptation today so I went to the Chemist and got the stuff so I could POAS. BFN! I think I'm at 8dpo or 6dpo? Who knows.

I have read that its best to wait until AF doesn't come for tests to be more likely to be positive.

Grrlmom we went off contraception last June and I was pretty amazed we went 6 months without conceiving as I was so religious taking my pill every day and was sure I'd fall without it. Now i've done all the research since December no wonder we didn't fall! Well I look forward to seeing pics of our Still a week or two before I'll feel really sure? And you never know you might be super fertile and statistically alter the numbers by falling pregnant straight away!

Hi ladies!
I'm also 31 and ttc #1. Came off bcp last May but only just started trying this cycle.
I'm hoping it's not going to take long to get a BFP, but I think my age and weight (BMI 26) might be against me...

Elite7 - hope your cycle settles down and you get aan answer one way or the other!

fx for all that we get BFPs this month!

I'm 32. We started ttc last year and I had the chance to carry our first for 11 weeks...Unfortunately, it ended in a loss. So, I guess technically, I am ttc #2...Either way, we're back on the ttc wagon and I almost forgot how frustrating it can be!

I'm 32 and am on cycle 4, although we've been trying for 6 cycles the first two we didn't hit the right time so despite very excitedly trying, it was to no avail. A close friend of similar age to me tried for 8 months before she got preggers.

From starting to try until today it's quite a journey. My friends didn't talk about trying, and didn't talk about the baby until they are 3 months. It kind of perpetuates the myth that we get up the duff immediately... and so until you start trying you don't realise it could take months!

That's absolutely true.
When it seems like everyone around us is getting pregnant effortlessly, we need to remember that we really don't know how long they tried or what the effort entailed.

I've read about this recent phenomenon where a lot of celebrities are getting pregnant in their 40s, and many of them are having twins, making it seem (to the average woman reading US magazine) that this is a pretty commonplace occurrence, when in fact these celebs almost undoubtedly had some sort of medical help in conceiving. Most of them just don't choose to talk about it, and that's their perogative... although it might be helpful to other ttc women if they did talk about it, so that we wouldn't feel so alone.
