From starting to try until today it's quite a journey. My friends didn't talk about trying, and didn't talk about the baby until they are 3 months. It kind of perpetuates the myth that we get up the duff immediately... and so until you start trying you don't realise it could take months!
That's absolutely true.
When it seems like everyone around us is getting pregnant effortlessly, we need to remember that we really don't know how long they tried or what the effort entailed.

I've read about this recent phenomenon where a lot of celebrities are getting pregnant in their 40s, and many of them are having twins, making it seem (to the average woman reading US magazine) that this is a pretty commonplace occurrence, when in fact these celebs almost undoubtedly had some sort of medical help in conceiving. Most of them just don't choose to talk about it, and that's their perogative... although it might be helpful to other ttc women if they did talk about it, so that we wouldn't feel so alone.
Twins are more common once you hit your 40's! Your chances actually increase for naturally conceiving twins. Im 41 and ttc #3 for me #1 for hubby and I have fallen pregnant twice in 5 cycles so take heart ladies, 30's will be a walk in the park!

Yes, it's true: twins are more common in older moms.
Yet the number of mid-40ish celebrities having twins defies the odds that this could be a natural phenomenon.
IVF increases the odds of having multiples too.

Hello so good to meet everyone

Hi everyone!

I tested AGAIN this morning and still have BFN.. sigh.. I've gotta stop buying those tests and wait until AF stays away. Costing me a fortune!

Lucia.. sorry to hear about your loss - a lady at my work has just gone through a similar situation as you... however she found out at the 12 week scan that her baby wasn't alive .. She is 36 and was (is) on #2. She is going to try again on her next cycle.

Another one at my work is preggers and fell straight away - thought she would go off the pill and get ready to try and just got preggers straight away. Whatever!

I don't have any good updates other than no BFP is so frustrating and I am getting quite annoyed with people who see I'm not drinking and smoking and assuming that I'm preggers (when I don't know if I am!).

Also annoying is the people who ask you how getting preggers is going. I wish I had never mentioned it. I feel like saying "yes well we are having sex and I've heard that causes pregnancy, so really the getting pregnant thing is going ok!". I mean really...

And one more complaint - people who tell you how fertile they are and they just look at a man and get pregnant - yet have never had a baby or been preggars in the last 10 years? And when they were preggars they never carried to full term by choice?

Ok thats enough for me I have bad Mondayitis (as you can tell) and I wish everyone lots of

fast and strong

and if this month is not successful - plenty of next month..

I don't know how you guys afford them! lol!
I bought one pack when we started ttc last month; the pack had 3 tests, and it was like 16 dollars at Walgreens. But it's an "early response" test, supposed to detect pregnancy 5 days before AF is due or something like that.

Anyway, I used one last month before AF: negative.

I'm holding the other two.
We're on a really tight budget, and buying more tests would mean going without something else that I want, like chewing gum or soda or any of the little comforts that help me get through my long workday!
Besides, I like to enjoy the illusion that I *might* be pregnant for as long as possible.
There's some pleasure in that, for me: the suspense.
Why should I test early and spoil the whole thing sooner than I have to?

I'm saving the other two tests for when AF is late... and since AF is never, ever late, I really won't even need the tests, because if AF is late, I'll already know. The test will just be a confirmation.

that is such a good idea....

I'm gonna try really hard not to test unless AF is late (next week). But my other two tests (got them on special) are for 4 days before AF is due.. which is not until Thursday.... you would think I could hold out till then surely

FearlessKat - this is so similar to me. There's nothing more annoying than people asking how its going - don't they know they aren't supposed to ask?! And we told lots of our friends we were trying to avoid them asking about lack of drinking. Can't have it both ways - either you tell them and they ask for status updates, or you don't tell them and then they think you are secretly preggers!

I talked to my doctor about drinking in the 2ww. She said that it wouldn't do any harm to have one or two glasses of wine every now and then - as long as I didn't get drunk. She certainly didn't recommend giving up completely, which I what I did to start off with... Its completely up to you, but maybe this might help a bit. Bearing in mind getting preggers might take months...
