The consultant told me it would not affect TTC but in a leaflet it said to wait until normal again. Also asked him about my miscarriages he said completely unrelated.

My results take 6- 8 weeks so I rang today as i am an impatient bugger, also to see if results available over the phone and the secretary said no and also because of xmas and weather the results are delayed and likely to be 8 weeks before now and no she cannot give me any details over the phone. I am hoping biopsy is clear and they just ask me to go back for another smear etc. I really don't want LLETZ again.

I also would love to be trying again now but I know its important to do what ever is right but had conflicting information. So was wondering on other experiences, so are you still TTC now then Kayleigh?

Crypto - did you wait for an all clear?
No as the all clear wasnt anticpated for three years ( it was fine after one). I told them I was ttc and they said it no problem....

Its a really worrying time however I think if the consultant said go ahead then go for it if you feel up to it. Best of luck and I hope you get a bfo soon. XX

I had multiple colposcopies and biopsys done in the beginning stages of TTC. I continued to try until I had to have a LEEP procedure due to high grade precancerous cells. I had to wait 4 months after that to begin TTC again! My 4 month check up came back abnormal after the initial LEEP but Just got a normal pap in December!!!! Good luck!

Thanks JS Mommy, I wish you success in you TTC journey.

I think if OH is happy I will go NTNP until more results are received then we can see what happens from there. I think from advice and experience i have recieved from girls and doctor is that if I did get pregnant before results/treatment is scheduled then to delay the treatment for the remaining months is not problematic.

From the power of positive thinking I am channelling my thoughts to the following, all being well will mean I get an all clear with my results in the next couple of weeks. Then TTC will continue at full steam ahead lol.

Thanks to you all for your comments on this, you have stopped my head wobbling and i feel a bit more confident about this. x

Defo - if you ever want to chat about the smears then I am up for this, i used to have a right pain with them a few years ago. I know that if your immune system is low then cell changes can occurr, which I think mine was definitely shot low after 2 losses in a short time. So I am staying with positive mind that my changes will be mild. Cos I got to thinking my result was borderline, which is usually they are unsure what and if changes have taken place.

Staying positive, I do think I am going to do the NTNP rule now, until results come, the jury is out 50/50 with this.

I was just typing into google "how long after treatment for abnormal cells do I have to wait before TTC" and stumbled across baby and bump by complete accident. I'm so glad I saw this forum and had to join B&B just so that I could reply! Hope you all don't mind me gate crashing!

I've just had a Colposcopy and had 2 biopsies taken. I was so upset when my appointment letter came through from the Hospital, we'd just decided over the Christmas break that I would stop taking my pill and that we would TTC - felt so positive about 2011, new year, new baby the thudded back to reality when the hospital letter arrived.

The results of my biopsies should be back within 2 weeks so we've stopped TTC before even starting! I'm pretty sure I'll need treatment but am hoping that I can just get it over and done with asap. From what I've read there will be no TTC for at least 4 weeks because of risk of infection - I'm unsure really as to whether I then need to wait until my next smear/colposcopy (which could be up to 6 months after treatment!) before TTC or whether it is safe to go ahead straight away (after the 4 weeks following the treatment I mean...)??? not sure what to do for the best, I guess I just have to wait for my results and to speak to my Dr? I just really don't want to wait another 6 months before TTC or is that really selfish of me?

Had convinced myself that I actually had cervical cancer and no matter how many times I read the leaflets that say "it's unlikely you have cancer" all I can think is "it is likely that you have cancer". Had a few tears the other night, Hubby found me crying in the kitchen, took me out to get fish and chips and funnily enough I felt much better!!!

Such a comfort to find this forum - one of my friends has had the treatment but she wasn't TTC and doesn't really understand why I'm so confused and upset... she is of the opinion that I should wait until I get treatment and the all clear before TTC and anything other than that would be stupid.

God, first reply to a thread and I've already written an essay. Sorry girls. Just needed to get it all off of my chest as it's doing my head in and making me feel like such a drama queen!!

First of all I am sorry you are going through this.

I had an abnormal smear, biopsy and then had a small section of my cervix removed. This was 3 mths before ttc. I was told it wouldnt affect ttc, but to wait until the treatment was over.

That was in Aug 2008, we started ttc in Jan 2009 and I fell pregnant first cycle of trying although I lost it, I then become pregnant again and I have a lovely baby daughter.

Its extremely daunting but stay positive and you are not a drama queen! XXX

Hi Girls,

I am no longer TTC - probably just NTNP and then see - doesn't seem to be happening for us and I am just going with the flow.

MrsRV - I fully understand how you feel - I was like this most of the year. I am on 6 monthly smears and my smear in december involved another biopsy - my doctor is really nice and said no problem to be TTC - although with my first referral they told me to wait for the results before I carried on TTC - so I did put this off and we probably were back TTC in July last year. At the min I am BnB break as I need it. But I wish you well and hope your results are clear - most come back okay - I have had a number of abnormal smears over the years and still going strong hun. You will soon be back on with TTC xxx

marymoomin - thats really nice to hear a postive story after treatment. x x

I had my first abnormal smear this past October. I went back to my OBGYN around the start of December for a Colposcopy. Now I am going back January 25th to undergo the LEEP procedure to remove the abnormal cells. I am looking forward to getting it out of the way the sooner the better as I would like to start ttc here within the next couple of months depending on how this procedure goes and my follow-ups look.

Hooray, just had my treatment at the hospital today and doctor says it's fine to start TTC after the 6 weeks healing time. I'm so happy... Date now marked on calendar and all being well maybe we will be trying for a Christmas baby! Thank u for your replies to my post, it's good to know that other people are going through the same things!

Hi there, i had a biopsy and then i found out i did need treatmet, they won't treat you if you are pregnant, or even might be, i actually had CIN3 though mine was quite bad, it might be different for you... even if you do hold off, i think i remeber waiting a whole year for my next smear test after having abnormal cells removed, so after treatment you could get straight back to TTC, rember its better to healthy for your pregnancy even if you have to wait a few weeks, you wouldn't want it to progress becuase it could end up with part of your cervix being removed, which can add to the risk of miss carriage..

If you do have treatment its not too bad.... worrying and unpleasent to have some pocking around down there.

wish you the best of luck with everything, i rember when it happened to me its not nice.. Sope x
