My first post!! Be kind please!! HEHE!

Evening to all!!

Hi there! Im fairly new and have been gazing from afar for a few weeks - building up the courage to post! (not that i have anything to be afraid of i know!)

Me and my OH have been TTC for just over a year. I came off my pill on March 25th 2007 and have been unfortunate enough to have 2 periods a month since then and am hoping that now it is after the 1year mark that they will get back to normal (i really really really REALLY hope!!)

I was just wondering seen as that it may now be a possibility in the near future that I may become a mummy and that im gonna defo stop the 'social smoking' that i should also start a healthier diet!!! I know, i know i should have been doing it earlier but never thought my cycle was gonna get better!

Just wondering what i should be eating and what the rest of you do????

Any feedback would be appreciated muchos grande!!!

xxx Take care xxx XCX

Welcome to the forum!

My only advice for you is to start taking folic acid or a prenatal vitamin (if you aren't already)

Thank you for your hasty reply!!

Im trying to remember to take folic acid every night before i go to bed!

Should i be taking pre-natel vitimins too? I started taking them for 6months when i came off the pill but i stopped because i thought it was silly spending money if my AF is every 2weeks!!

Am i just being silly or is it worth the money> I am determined to get this right!!! Raaaaa!

You should be fine taking the folic acid alone, I take prenatal vitamins with folic acid in them (but I buy the off brand ones at Wal-mart).

hi superbean

welcome to the forum. I am fairly new to this, so all i can say is you'll get loads of information and personal experiences from everyone on here.

I'm taking folic acid one day and a prenatal multivitamin the next. As long as you are taking 400 mcg a day you should be fine, provided there isn't a history of neural tube defects in your immediate family. If in doubt, speak to your doctor - that is of course assuming you can actually get an appointment, and when you do, they have a bit of common sense.

I'm not the healthiest eater in the world, but I don't smoke and don't drink. I've cut my alcoholic intake from around 2 bottles of wine a month to zilch in the hope that it makes a difference. Everything in moderation though - that includes moderation ... heehee.

Good luck with regulating your cycle, and hopefully your ttc journey won't be a long one.

xx

I take a multi vitamin with folic acid and am lucky enough not to be a smoker. However things don't sound too bad for you are you mention that you are only a 'social smoker'. Hopefully you will have enough determination to give up altogether, perhaps before your little miracle happens as it will make it easier for you in the long run.

As for eating healthier, do you want to just eat healthier foods or do you want to loose weight. If you want to loose weight then perhaps you could consider joining Weight Watchers or another slimming club which will help you learn all about healthier options. Otherwise, I recommend cutting out the rubbish such as sweets, crisps and take aways and replacing with more fruit, fibre and vegetables. There's loads of advice on the internet too for healthy eating plans.

Best of luck and some for your journey.
