Question

clomid and mc

How increased are the chances of mc when taking clomid? I'm on my first cycle of clomid at the moment, and keep reading about all these mc's when on clomid - it's kind of freaking me out a bit.

Wink

I asked the midwife this very question just the other day....

And she said that she works in the fertility section too and she has had great success with clomid....she also said if you don't smoke or drink then u shudn't have many probs...and she sai u must remember mcs are really common- 1 in 4 women have them.

I wasn't going to take clomid again after my last mc...but i may be reconsidering as from what the MW said and I am going to c the Doc 2moz and ask the same question...

So will keep u posted...pm me any time hun....xx

Thanks Catster. I don't smoke, and have never been a big drinker, so thats a bit more reassuring. Let me know how you get on with your dr tomoz. If I learn anymore along the way I will let you know too...

Hi Maz

Yeh...went to c doc and she almost said the same to me as the MW did. She said the only really big side effect with Clomid is there is a chance u could have multiple births...so don't worry about the connection of mc and cloimid...I think mcs are just so common.....and they can happen to anyone on any fertility medication or not....

Good luck with your first round, I will be re-starting mine next cycle now....Take care, Cat xx

Hi Maz,

I had a miscarriage in January at 10 weeks after conceiving while on Clomid. I had heard that any type of fertility treatment can increase the risk of miscarriage and this worried me. I had my review meeting last week with the specialist in the clinic where I am attending and I asked him was there an increased risk of miscarriage with Clomid and he said absolutely not. He said it wouldn't be prescribed so readily if ithat were the case. So all I can do it take his word for it.

I bet you're relieved to hear that. Are you starting on clomid again on your next cycle or did your consultant have something else in mind?

Fingers crossed for your sticky BFP very soon.
