| hey capital chick, its good that they have found out that you have this, cos if it is left you can begin to feel absolutely terrible!! I have it and was diagnosed at 21, they said it was rare to have it at that age, but I am weird anyway!! It just means that you will be put on thyroxine tablets for the rest of your life, they will probrably start you on 25-50mcg to determine you levels and then if that isnt enough they will up the dose. This means that you will probrably need to go for blood tests for the first three months in order for them to see how you are doing. One thing about thyroxine- it is not a magical thing that pops in your system, it takes at least 4 weeks for you to feel the benefit(sorry), but one upside that you should find is that if you are on longterm thyroxine, u get ALL prescriptions absolutely free. So you dont have to pay for any scripts again. Seriously though, it is a small tablet every day, which does make an awful difference once it is in your system, and I am sure it will help you to concieve naturally all being well. If you have any questions, just PM me and I will be happy to help, good luck, candice xx |
