hi all just wondering how u lot wud announce ur pregnancies to ur OH or families???

the way im goin to announce it to my OH is (WHENEVER I GET MY BFP!), il buy a fathers day card one yr, make him his fav dinner for wen he gets home, all romantic like lol and il hand him over the card from "Richard or Ella" (our 1st boy n girl names) he'l no staright away lol i think he wud really appericiate it and then afta dinner we spend the rest of the night together and kept it our lil secret til prob the next day wen we announce it to the family!!

Well, there's an I Love Lucy episode when she finds out she's preg. she tells Ricky by making him baby themed food for dinner. You know baby carrots, baby squash, ect. He doesn't get it but that was so cute. Hillarious by the way, you must see the episode if you haven't already. Anyway, I've always wanted to do that.
Haven't thought much about the family... probly just call our moms.

OH and I have been discussing how to break the news to our parents. We are thinking of buying a photo frame with 'grandparents' or something like that on it, and then putting a scan picture in it. Then we'll give it to them over dinner.

As for telling him. I don't think I could hold out until he got back from work to tell him, I'd probably phone him straight away.

My idea to tell DH is to make a nice meal and wrap a clear blue digital which says the word pregnant (cause his not clued up on needing 2 lines lol) and give him to him and then we are going to wait till after the first scan and tell the family. my parents live in spain so i think i will have to wait till they come over for a visit which they do regulary at least 4 times a yr and with mil2 and DH's nan we would take them out for a meal and tell them the rest can hear through the grape vine LOL we also had the same idea as maz and that is to put the scan pic in a frame and give to the parents.

other than DH i have decided to tell my best friend and a girl at work i get on really well with straight away so i have someone to gossip with when DH has had enough lol.

Bless you girls for having so much patience as making dinner, getting a card etc for telling OH..

I was in such shock at the bfp i ended up just thrusting the stick at him, lol! I also called my mum as soon as i p'd on the stick...

It'll probably be the same next time!

Last time i found out, i had actually bought the test on the way to work.... got in the toilet on arriving didn t even go to my desk and turn on the computer... and there it was ....... i knew it was going to be positive but still i was in a daydream.

Worst of it, is i spoke to my oh on the fone about three times but didn t want the message we having a baby to come over the fone.

Well we have this little thing we do as a joke all the time... when i get a new pair of shoes...he'll shake my hand and say congratulations and i do the same to him ... when we bought the house we do the same basically to take the piss.

So when i got home i was in the kitchen i hid the test .... behind my bag....and i said in the the most casual " oh come here "... so he comes and i take his hand and i say congratulations and he says for what.... then i hand him the test ... he say whats that (men) then after a couple of seconds .... he gets the incredible smile on his face and hugs me!

So that was a nice moment... don t know how i m going to do it next time.. but cos he is now aware of everything since the MC he is kinda full of knowledge

mmmmmmmmm................. Ideas. But i couldn t cook a meal first and some men click something going on if you make the evening dinner too romantic!

I think cheeky and spontaneous ways get to men and are memorable.

Men are cheeky after all.

I'll just do what I did last time (although I had MC) and come out of the loo and go 'look, we did it!' and start whinging! We won't tell anyone until after 12week scan. I will tell my mum first - i'm thinking of buying a knitting pattern of a baby cardigan and wool and needles as she likes to knit while watching tv. I'll say can you knit us this and hand it to her - she will scream and cry! My little brother i'm going to give a sticker saying 'baby on board' and ask him to put it in my car and see how he reacts. Will tell oldest brother, SIL and three kids by showing them scan picture and say would you like a new cousin. My middle brother is in OZ so i'll email him my scan picture and wait for a phone call. As for OH family i'll let him decide.
Can't wait - hope it's soon! Hope I don't give the game away!

Whenever we find out DH and I will be together - even if I have to get up at 5am to go to work and he has the day off he gets up with me to test. My mom made me promise here whenever we found out we were pregnant that I would tell her alone - just me and her - guess she just wants us girls since it'll be a special moment. DH says he'll just call his mom.
