Diagnosed with PCOS today

I had my ultrasound today, he found my right ovary straight away and said it was polycystic but couldn't find my left ovary. So he had to use the internal probe, it took him about 5 minutes to find it but he got it eventually! That too was covered in cysts :'(

While I was there I asked him to check I wasn't pregnant (although there wasn't much chance of that) as I haven't come on for 20 weeks and have had very sore nipples but he showed me my womb and said it's definately empty... sob...

In a way I'm relieved to find out once and for all that I have it but I am devastated at the same time..

I've got an appointment with my doctor next Friday to discuss the next step.

My lovely fiance texed me afterwards saying "I love you so much my little lady. Don't worry because whatever happens we're in it together" Bless him, he's my rock.

I posted this in WTT by accident

hi RoxyRoo....i too was diagnosed with polycysts on my right ovary in june i was heartbroken as i had my left ovary & tube removed when i was 2 days old. I thought that was it 4 me, no more babies ( have a 4 year old daughter)......ive had lots of bloodtests & i am ovulating fine, am on clomid however ( 2nd cycle now) too give that ovary a boost. Hoping i get a BFP very soon....so try not to feel down hun, you may still be ovulating ok * may still be given clomid to help & if not ovulating then clomid should help too! ive always had regular periods that why it was a bit of a shock when i found out but have heard great things about metformin bringing ur period on so good luck hun xxx

I just got my copy of "pcos for dummies" (about a tenner from Amazon) in the post today and it really is excellent - I recommend it.

Not that I am suggesting you are a dummy....

i was in the same boat hun and my appt is in MARCH!

Go and speak to your GP - I did and he eventually put me on metformin. That being said, I had 5 months to wait where as yours is only (i know i know!!!) a few weeks so in that respect you're lucky.

on a bright note, the meds don't take long to work. I started the met beginning of november and i have just ovulated for the first time! best of luck, pm me if you ever want a chat. x
