why do you think that Stacey?

@bird - this is how I got metformin. GP appt after FS. I booked this because I wanted to at least deal with the sypmtoms of PCOS. The spots and the fact that I had sodding depression again. But of course you're not supposed to take anti depressants whilst ttc. What to do.... So the doc decided that the best course of action was to put me on metformin which should hopefully balance me out and also give me a bit of hope so removing the need for happy pills. Plus I didn't want the anti-spot cream cos apparently it turns your face bright red for a fortnight. I feel sexy enough with the excess body hair and the surges of testosterone thanks..... So maybe asking about dealing with the symptoms might help???

Everyone's a winner surely?

that's not bad mate - mine was a 5 month wait! i was just luck that my gp got the ball rolling in the meantime so at least if I don't get pregnant by then I can get straight onto clomid.

I was diagnosed with PCOS because of the ratio of some hormones in my body. My ovaries look fine, according to my doc who saw them on the ultrasound. So I really donīt know if there are different types of PCOS.

And I heard that metformin doesnīt work for every case of PCOS. Is that true?
PCOS seems like a bit of an umbrella diagnosis - I got diagnosed with it despite the only problems being cysts on my ovaries, slightly irregular hormone levels and irregular cycles. As I understand it, you can have PCOS without having cysts, and cysts without having PCOS if that makes sense?

I was completely confused because Im not overweight, dont have excess body hair, no problems with insulin, and the actual hormones that relate to PCOS in me are normal, however other hormones are irregular.

No one seems to be able to give anyne information on their individual case and that does my head in!! I havent got a clue whats going on with my own body!! There just seems to be a total lack of information in all cases.

hi girls,
may i join please, i'm not actually on clomid yet but im currently on metformin and provera, i got diagnosed with pcos in august 2007, they did bloods and ultrasound and found loads of little cyts and too rather big ones on either ovary, and very high hormone levels unfortantly not females!! me and my partener both want to start trying after christmas so my gyno has said will could possibly start clomid then, they put me on the provera cuz i havent had a period since this time last year, and there worried that the lining of my uterus will get too thick, however i want a baby and so does the OH but how does clomid really work??and does it work straight away??have any of you girls had any success with using it??
thanks

LINZI,

i am slightly the same, i have no symptoms at all, until i came off the pill when my periods were delayed by 7 months, only then drs looked into as i was TTC, with no luck, and they did bloods which showed up slightly raised 'testosterone' which meant nothing to me, then the dr put me forward for a scan which showed cysts on my ovaries, which then resulted to PCOS, but the dr just said oh its a mild case, carry on with healthy eating and excersise and get yourself booked in with gyno!!! huh well thanks but what do i do now!!!! lol. got my appt next month so will see what happens then but not all cases are the same as i have heard which is very confusing!! xxxx

Hi Ladies - I was diagnosed with PCOS recently - went for a private ultrasound because I had missed two periods and HPT's and blood tests came back as negative. Really thought I was pregnant because I have always had regular cycles. I was prescribed with provera and have one more pill left to take but still no AF - got a docs appointment later on in the week - So I have gone from not wanting AF to desperately wishing for it now so that I can see if I ovulate or not......aaah nightmare!!!

Hi everyone, I've not been on here for a little while, I'm sorry. I took a bit of time out to get my head around things.

I actually came on my period naturally on Thursday, which I was pleased about, although it was 5 and a half months late!

I went to see my GP on Friday, he said that the cysts on my ovaries are quite severe and that he has referred me to a specialist, which I will hopefully hear from within 4-6 weeks. He said that when I went to see him a few months ago he knew it was pcos due to the excess hair on my face and body, my struggle with my weight and obviously my absent period.. So it was no suprise to him or me either.

I'm just waiting now for my appointment to come through but I am feeling very positive about it now, I'm ready to face things head on.

Thank you all for being there for me through the last week or two xx

So i went on the waiting list for ivf which i was due to have my 1st appointment this month. Im currently 27 weeks pregnant and i had no help at all. I didnt even think i ovulated and they wouldnt check as they said with my tubes it would not matter. You have more hope than i had. Please try and stay positive. Plus what a lovely fiance you have, he's gonna be there all the way.
Wow, congratulations on your pregnancy, your story is very inspiring!!

I'm feeling much more positive about everything now and just waiting for my next appointment..

And yes, you're right, my fiance is fantastic, I am so lucky to have him

I'd also like to say, to everybody who has replied on here, I've done alot of reading and research about pcos and it's not all bad news, there are alot of happy ending stories out there. I want to give you all a huge hug and wish you all luck and strength for your/our journeys ahead xxx
