Interesting to see other ladies suffering from the same thing: I took Pregnacare Conception tablets and for a few weeks I suffered from dizziness. Didn't actually get sick but was rather nauseous.

I had come off it since and now switched to Clonfolic, which is simply folic acid. Thank god I haven't felt ill since. Maybe it was just coincidence. My GP didn't really believe it was the tabs. He thought it was some virus I caught. However, now feeling OK again I don't want to take any chance by going back to the Pregnacare!

I was nauseous on pregnacare if i took it on an empty stomach. Normally folic acid just gives me an upset stomach apart from this time.. still no bad tummy and no cramps yay

Bethany you poor girl. Guess really have no choice in the matter but to keep taking them

What we won't do for our little one. I have a phobia for getting sick... but morning sickness is strangely appealing, albeit terrifying.

Beth if u go to the doctor they can give u a prescrption for a slightly different alternative.

i was taking iron tablets for a long while. one brand gave me serious diarreah...tmi i know (sorry ladies) and actually made me physically sick. He swopped my tabs to another brand that were apparently gentler on the stomach and they never made me ill at all.

and btw u shudnt be taking them on an empty stomach...folic acidand iron is known for irritating ur stomach lining

I have a fear of being sick too, i know the feeling.. i can't wait for morning sickness for some reason it'll be a blessing lol

I haven't been ill tonight though... maybe my body is alright with it if i take it straight after eating a bulky meal

I have tried so many brands its crazy lol. When I do fall pregnant I'll be going to the doctors anyway.. so I'll ask then I think. I'm feeling fine tonight for some reason. I was sat there expecting it to happen.. but it didn't

Oh and don't worry, i learnt my lesson about taking them on an empty stomach, it was a habit to take them before i went to bed.. but i normally have an empty stomach when i go to bed cause i do tea quite early.. i took one straight after tea tonight and i seem to be ok

Really? Not even if you eat the breads & cereals etc with it purposefully added in?? Those companies are a bit dodgy really to promote those items if it still isn't enough, would mislead a lot of women!!

What is the difference between eating folic acid in food and tablet form then? On my cereal packet it tells me how much folic acid is in each portion so surely if I measured it out and ate enough (lol) it would give me my required dose?

Just curious, I do take it in tablet form and will continue to anyway but just wondering.

I guess we don't really know whether they would have more or less of the folic acid in the portion of food we take, no matter what they advertised. So it's more to make sure we do have enough by taking the tablets. I heard that it is good for the men too. Not sure what is it good for. Is it good for the ?

Bethany it's great you don't have any ill effect last night from the folic acid. Fingers crossed you will be feeling fine today as well Are you trying for your #1 as well?
