Bacterial Vaginosis - Has anybody had it?

I think I might... but I'm not sure.

I'm also scared about taking antibiotics for it, as i've heard that many women become resistant to them and it becomes a life-long problem.

Any help, experience, advice, knowledge, etc. would be appreciated.

Hi - how do you know if you have it? I was thinking I might too - but not sure of signs and symptoms - all I know is i get thrush alot and even after taking the pessarys it comes back a month or 2 later. And I get a itch and burning sensation after sex (but only sometimes).

Hi,
I have had this and my sister has it very often.
Believe me you will know if you have it, it smells awful (tmi sorry) I didn't notice any change in cm, just there was more of it and the smell. I am 30 and have had it twice and have took antibiotics for it, it is the only way to get rid of it. My sister is 21 and has been having it for a few years now and antibiotics don't really work for her, she has to change them every so often to a different type, so unfortunately i have just confused you more.
Just to say though it is only a bacterial imbalance and isn't passed on, only lives in women. Even if you BD isn't passed to partner but thats if your partner can cope with the embarrasing smell

hope this helps abit, kelly.

ahhh, bacterial vaginosis.

I get it once in a while (started when I was on the copper IUD, dunno if that has anything to do with it) and usually it went away on its own, or I used (dont ask me to tell you the name of it, I forget) an all natural douche that I got at walgreens, it was a little more expensive but usually two of those made mine go away (it doesnt use vinegar or any other "chemicals" all natural stuff that balances your PH instead of destroying it)

I got it last month, doc put me on Flagyl. It went a way. as far as CM goes, I always had a very watery discharge and sticky mucus. and it seems like a lot of discharge (kinda like when you get up the next day after sex and the dissolved semen comes out but all day long)

My doc says its bad for the little swimmers so go get checked out. If its your first one, I doubt you will become resistant to the meds, and you can always try the douche.

Yup, been there several times. Like the other girls said its really stinky. I didn't have any other symptoms except for a change in discharge. You can eat more yogurt to try to prevent from getting it. Once you have it you should probably be on meds. Flaygl is not an antibotic tho its an antifungal so you can feel better abt that. Good luck!

you only really become resistant to antibiotics when you are taking them constantly.
That is why doctors hate when parents come in wanting antibiotics when their kid has a cold or the flu as they do not do anything for those.

I had it once and I was put on Flagyl cream (vaginal cream) which is not an anti fungal as the person above stated but is an antibiotic. I didnt even know I had it. I think it was caught really early because it was on the results of my annual pap

Thanks, ladies. I noticed something different a while ago, maybe 6 months? Mostly a bad odour after my period would finish and after sex, and some thin yellow discharge. IT doesn't always smell bad, but it's just not the same. Also DH says it's different tasting down there (TMI, sorry). I thought it was just that I went off the pill and my periods were heavier.

I did some googling and thought it could be BV (but I am still not totally sure), but also saw that most cases go away on their own. So, I decided to wait. But, I still have it so I am going to get it checked out. I've been trying to get a pap appointment for two months!!!! First they were "too busy" with h1n1, and now they supposedly can't do it because it's the wrong time during my cycle. They said I should wait until I get back from Christmas holidays.

Has anyone tried the natural remedies like yogurt? Thanks!
