mine wanted to know the length of my period cycles as they were a bit erratic.
they can do a 21 day blood sample to see if you have ovulated but you have to be pretty regular for it to be accurate. I my case he said it would be a waste of time.

Hiya all!
I went after 5 months of 'trying' because from coming off the pill in Dec 08. AF did not arrive at all but one doctor put me on prevera to 'trigger' AF and said that she will come naturally every month after. I wen to see another doctor who sent me to have blood tests done and an internal scan which then confirmed me having PCOS. From then on I have been sent onto a FS (who has said that we are very lucky to see him as they only do so after 2 years!) and have been on clomid. I am on my 2nd round of clomid so far and have doubled the dose from 50mg to 100mg as it didn't show any signs of working for me on the ower dose. The FS has said that we will have to go down the IVF route as they do not think anything else will work but I have to lose a bit more weight to get referred. In total, we have been 'trying' for nearly 12 months now xxx

I went last week after trying since January. The doctor made it clear she would not be referring me until I had been trying for two years. I questioned this several times since most people say it's a year but she was quite firm about it. She was on the whole a pretty rubbish doctor having just left medical school and not being very helpful. When I asked questions she replied with 'we weren't taught anything about that at medical school' reassuring huh?
After pushing her a bit and explaining a few things to her I succeeded in getting her to investigate things a bit more so I have a blood test to check hormone levels and an ultrasound to check my ovaries.
I plan on seeing a different doctor once the test results are in!
