TTC after ectopic treated with methotrexate

i'm not sure if this is the right section to post this in so if not, i apologise.

in july i found out i was pregnant with my second, but the pregnancy turned out to be ectopic. i was treated with a single injection of methotrexate. i want to know how long i have to wait before i can TTC again. some say 3 months, some say 6 months, so i'm not sure. i want to make sure before DH and i start TTC, i give my body adequate rest and time to recover and don't go trying too soon in case the methotrexate is still in my system.

any advice would be appreciated. thanks

Im sorry about your loss hun. Sorry I dont have the answers for you, I recently had a MC but know nothing much about ectopic's. I'd say double check with your doc cause some give different answers. For example, I was told by one doc to wait 3 months .. and my own doc to wait 1 cycle after my MC.. weird. Double check with him/her hun xxxx

Most often I've heard 3 months if you were given one shot and 6 months if you were given two. Did your Dr. give you his/her opinion on how long to wait? I've had two both treated with methotrexate, my first dr said it was safe once my hcg levels went to zero and my last dr said 2-3 months so there are varied opinions on this. I think 3 months just ensures that it's out of your system. http://www.ectopic.org.uk/medical_information/faq.htm i found this site helpful, it also talks about methotrexate. hope this helps! I'm sorry for your loss.

Hello,
I was treated with Methotrexate in February and I was advised to wait 3 menstrual cycles before TTC with one injection. If you had two injections, it is advised to wait 6 cycles. I ended up waiting 4 months because we were on month long holiday. Still waiting for my BFP........
I'm so sorry for your loss. Take care of youself.

hi there ,
my first time posting to a blog .
I am 25 yrs old and already have a 6 yr old daughter and that was an normal pregancy no complications . In september i found out i was pregnant !! I was so happy as was my partner, i had stopped the pill in may so i was quite quick at falling pregnant . I found out at the begining of september and had bought those digital tests which stated 2-3 weeks (not sure how u work those dates wise ) i went to the doc and she also got a positve (but a very faint one at that) , however 1 wk later i started to bleed and phoned the EPU and was taken in next day for a scan only to hear those words " theres nothing in your womb" i was beside myself . After 2 weeks of constant blood tests and internal scans they still could not see anything but my hormone levels were slowly still rising , i was taken inn late one night with pain in my left side and they decided to give me the methotrexate injection .I was told i could not concieve for 3 months and if i needed a second it would be 6 months . I am able to start trying again after x-mas but i am so terrified that i will miscarry again , my feelings and emotions are still all over the place so i really do sympathyse with you and i hope this helps a little knowing that you are not alone .
xxxxxx
